T50 - Everyone likes a bike you can kick start

No real reason it couldn't be configurable. Order complete bike, order frameset...sounds familiar. Over the years, I've tried to get anyone that was interested a chance to sit on it or even ride it (my V2/k, not the V20). Rarely will anyone even sit. Most are turned off by the MBB and then...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

I took a different tack and used the race-case mount as delivered. I inverted the headrest...the clamp is now in the curve of the headrest tube above the race-case plate. I had to re-position the headrest tube out about an inch...but it fits nice and comfy. I'll post pix later.

New Dates for Cruzbike Ride Retreat!

Miz Diane isn't a bike person either (she owns a Sun delta trike...rarely ridden), she's simply staying at our house in Little River, SC and I'll be driving up to the retreat every day. There are lots of fun places to explore nearby, Wilmington for example. Loads of history in the area, if...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Received new headrest and the little TerraCycle light mount thingy so I can move my light down to the chainstay spreader. Installed the light mount last night, works great! I'll reconfigure for the new headrest this weekend. Hopefully, the new aero box ("Race Case") will show up soon...

    Let's talk wheels

Since I entered this world as a mechanic, I always retain the notion that I should be building my own wheels. When motivated, I can be methodical, attentive to detail and focused; "motivated" being the operative word. I'm lazy...and the quintessential "mechanic who works on everybody else's...

    It's Mallet Season

'Nudge, nudge, wink, wink' compatible? "A-A-A-AKTchainstay!", he sneezed.

    Let's talk wheels

I really like Velocity rims. Currently running 'Deep V' (30mm) but I like their 'Aileron' profile (28mm) too. Not quite as up-to-date with aerodynamics as the ones from Flocycling...and more $$ but you get lots of colors to choose from. I've got a set of Deep V 32s on my V2/k that I was riding @...

Should you balance your road bike wheels?

What affects your performance more, minor vibration that it essentially cancelled/damped out by the interaction between the tire and the road (and your personal attach points) or an additional 28g of weight (2 wheels X 14g)? On a smooth velodrome track, I would be balancing my wheels (I think...

Ratz' first law remains inviolate. Package of new V20 goodies on its way to Nawth Alabama, you bastard.:D

    New Bike Blues

I think mine are "Rival"...and they are working as advertised. IOW, I haven't broken them yet. :D However, I'm not exactly happy with 'brifters' in general. Part of that is my inexperience with them. Every time I get on the bike, I have to actively recall the nuances of using them. Last time I...

V20's are scary fast...or so I've been told

On my 'cruising' bikes, I use one of those 'incredibell' bells. Works most of the time...one simply cannot get thru to someone wearing ear-buds or having a lively conversation in their >2 group of walkers (who are almost always going to be fully blocking the path). I was gobsmacked last weekend...

Something new - rather old - or (has Larry gone back to the DARK SIDE)

You could make the frame from upsidasium, but then instead of a kickstand, you'd need a tether.

    The Fred Thread

There is something about the V20 that tickled my design sense...I don't know why. I typically have no sense of color coordination (just ask Miz Diane) and really don't care about what I'm wearing at any given time. When I got the V20, I couldn't go with just black or silver...it begged for some...

    XShifter...new wireless shifting option

Latest update: Xshifter is going thru a name change. Company is now calling itself "Impulse", new web-page on its way. "Xshifter" was too product specific and they didn't want their product to be limited to just shifting. It kind of looks like they've found some applications for the software...

    The Fred Thread

Finally, I'm a fashionista! I have the black/red one...which means I'm fairly color-coordinated (considering I have red hubs and wheels on my V20). I often ride in a red recumbent jersey. My only apparent out-of-color-scheme pieces are my electric blue Shimano MT-34 shoes...although I have an...

    The Fred Thread

I'm on a 1200kcal/day nutritional schedule. I am supposed to eat every 3 hrs (about 200kcal per)...if I miss one when I'm in the middle of an exercise routine (like riding), I'm toast. Last summer I was on 1000kcal/day and was doing 30-40 mi every Sunday with shorter, 20/25 mi rides during the...

    The Fred Thread

All hail Fred! I'm right there with ya. It has been a rocky road for me this past several months. I finally rode the V20 for the first time this year on Thursday afternoon, very pleasant but a short evening ride. Took the Catrike out Friday afternoon with the intent to put in some extended...

    New Cruzbike Accessories

The 'race case' looks sweet. Great that it will contain a bladder, which is my preference. I'm currently running a TerraCycle"Fastback" system. It works well enough but I think the 'race case' will be mo' bettah.

    It's Mallet Season

Fingers crossed that you're demoing the "new" chainstay that was supposed to come out "soon". I think I ordered a standard length one some time ago but was backordered (or something, I forget what...hasn't kept me from riding).

    2017 Race and Event Season

6hr drive to the Bleckley for me. Even if I had known about it, I probably couldn't have gone anyway. I haven't ridden anything since November...just put 10mi on the V20 last night, first time this year. I'm a victim of soicumstances, I tell ya!
