New Dates for Cruzbike Ride Retreat!

We've always targeted October in Myrtle Beach, SC (about 90min from White Lake, NC) as the weather is almost always pleasant that time of year. Since it is an 11hr drive over there we tend to pick dates where there is a holiday (to maximize use of our vacation days)...in this case it is...

    2017 Race and Event Season

I've rode the Clarksville Century on my Optima Baron...back in '08 or '09, I believe. There were a couple of GRRs and a couple of stickbikes (no idea what brand). I was the only "low racer". It runs thru some beautiful back country (northern TN and southern KY), lots of tobacco farms and...

    New Vendetta

From the "never say never" dept... I installed the SRAM chain spotter on mine and thought it to be a big plus...until the last time I fell. Somehow, I contrived to get the chain past the spotter on the inside (it wasn't a hard fall, but I was pedaling hard when I went down). It took me 10...

    2017 Race and Event Season

http://www.clarksvillecentury.com recumbent friendly, pretty much flat (66ft max rise) and there's an "elite peloton" that tries to break the record every year. 2014 they did the century in 3:43. They say "no tandems" in the peloton but nothing about recumbents. I suspect if a Cruzbike peloton...

Anybody using a disc brake on the front wheel of new V20?

I'm running Hope hubs and SRAM 11sp (11-34?) cassette. The TRP HY/RDs just bolted on, no problem...did it myself. Putting a 160 on the rear will result in some interference...but a little judicious filing would solve that issue, I believe. Now that I've been riding mine for a while (my original...

    XShifter...new wireless shifting option

Probably going to be delayed from that. The last update said the factory closed for 3 weeks for some kind of Chinese holiday. They won't get the promotional prototypes out to the media until February now...I don't expect mine until April or May now.

Y'all are just trying to make me feel better. My outdoor avg is mid 70's. There's a software fix for the spikes? I gotta get that update!

I'm using the Wahoo 'magnetless' cadence sensor...and the Wahoo speed sensor that straps to the hub. No magnets on my spokes. I only pair the cadence sensor. I changed out the battery in my cadence sensor since my first trials...but I have been out of town for a couple of weeks and haven't had a...

The holidaze have me completely screwed up. Every time I book some time for myself and the trainer, I end up getting home just in time to flop and pass out (from holiday exhaustion, unfortunately. I'm long past the days when I could blame it on the volatiles in my drinks). I'll get there...but...

Excellent! I think that will help me get started out. I love where it is saying, "Spin lightly and quickly for the first few minutes"....I was grunting and whoofing. o_O Yesterday evening, I got an email from Wahoo that linked me to their "how to get started using our stuff" (oh, NOW your app...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Removed old Rotor Q34 small ring, installed new Rotor QXL36. No issues. Set both at OCP 4. I'll think about splitting them up later. Removed Speedplay SYZR pedals (and cleats) and replaced with Shimano SPD 540s. The SYZR pedals and I never 'bonded' and it was a PITA to have one pair of shoes...

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

I installed my QXL 36 last night. I chose to put both the outer and inner at OCP 4 to start with. I figure I need to learn to spin! edit to add pix of the old Q34 (left) and the new QXL36 (right)

That's part of the problem...I haven't got a clue what or where or how to move between the modes. I haven't found any such sort of control or button in TR. I found them in the Wahoo app.

Thanks Ratz, I knew it had to be something I wasn’t doing properly. It appears to be picking up my power output. Target and actual…I did a reasonable job of matching them up until it went into slope mode, I fell below 70rpm cadence…and it went sideways. I don’t understand, “ignore HR”. I’m an...

OK, speed do-hickey installed. Coat hanger sacrifice, no blood. The rubber-band indeed goes around the FWD hub...but the Wahoo Speed sensor is too wide to fit cleanly on the hub...tilted a bit. I think it will work. Problem #2: I tried the "8 min test" in Trainer Road. Fail. I have no idea...

I gave it a "full elastic limit" stretch before I tried it the first time. All I can do is give it a go. My hands are XL, so while I'm going to take the wheel off and try again, I suspect I'll need to sacrifice a coat hanger to the tool gods. There may be blood...but no chickens will be...

Yes, the Snap has its own speed output. No problem there. I wanted the sensor for road work...if the roads here ever warm up past 40F without bringing the rain. The Wahoo app uses GPS speed which is ok...but the lag time from the GPS is substantial. I'm told the sensor is pretty...

Anybody use a Wahoo speed sensor? I picked one up this week and I'm trying to: Figure out how to strap it on the hub...getting my fingers/hands in between the spokes and then pulling/stretching the strap...seems impossible. I'll probably have to use my hominid tool-building skills on the local...

I gave the Kickr Snap the acid test last night. I cranked it up at 9:30pm while Miz Diane was watching her favorite TV show. Usually, a moderate disturbance in the force will bring her out with a shut-it-down writ. Nothing happened. Afterwards, I queried her about the noise levels and she opined...
