    Now for build components...

MBB = Moving Bottom Bracket :) Rohloff? The Silvio's has a 130mm dropout width. The standard for road bike frames. The Rohloff is 135mm wide. The standard for mountain bike frames.

    SF bay area (south bay)?

Would you care to list your concerns? ;) :) Sorry that I cannot help with the test ride. I'm a continent away and no longer have a Cruzbike myself.

    Handlebar vs. knee positioning/setup

2 and 3a are the right answers. :) 2. Your knees should be in front of the bars so you'll need to move the seat forward. 3a. Use a shorter, rigid, non-adjustable stem for less forward offset. You may also find this article on the differences between the Cruzbike Sofrider V1 and V2 helpful.

    my new Silvio

Welcome to the Cruzbike forums. A while back, Doug was experimenting with alternative handlebars for a Silvio avoiding the use of brifters. He hasn't updated the thread in a while so I guess that it is still work in progress. ;) :)

    Trying out the "competition" - M5 Citymate/CMPCT

I test rode a M5 Citymate some years ago. I hated the "tiller" effect of the steering too. Maybe you should try the Cruzbike Sigma. ;) :) Sorry to hear about your crash.

    Suspension or no suspension

Why not build a Silvio? Full suspension and lighter in weight. :)

Fix for the loose plug for the old crank housing

Good idea. :) My Sofrider's crank housing plugs didn't fall out in the year and a half that I had it though, apparently, they can fall out in less than a hundred miles. ;) :)

    Silvio Fenders

I seem to remember that John Tolhurst advises folks to use the Planet Bike SpeedEZ Road fenders/mudguards. JT? :) They're available in black or silver. Sadly they are not "full coverage" and I guess that you would have to cable tie them on to prevent them flying off. They are similar to SKS...

    Greater Boston Area

I'm nowhere near Boston, Massachusetts and no longer own a Cruzbike, so cannot help you with a test ride. What I am curious about, is your comment that you already know how to ride a MBB bike. What was the MBB bike that you rode? Obviously it wasn't a Cruzbike. :)

Beard Trimmer!!! I thought that you were growing a "wizard" beard John, so that the guys over at BROL would take you seriously. ;)

    Help evaluating "cheaper" donor ideas

Welcome to the forum. :) We were all newbies once. ;) Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm only trying to be helpful. :) You'll find the Search box at the top right of each page. Give it a try. Search for a keyword such as "Tiara". You'll get lots of hits, showing threads about...

    Folding Bike As Donor

I wonder if you could get the rear of the seat base and the bottom of the seat back to align with the plane of the frame hinge? The seat base might then be attached to the front part of the frame and the seat back to the rear part of the frame. You probably wouldn't need to screw the seat base...

    Bottle Cages

Water bottle juggling! When I pull the bottle out of the cage, it is the wrong way round in my hand. I have small hands so I have to balance the bottle against my belly to spin it around to get a drink. I then have to reverse the procedure before returning the bottle to its cage. So...

    Rack

Sean After spending some considerable time fitting a rack to my Sofrider (See my posts in this thread), I'm starting to wonder if seat back mounted bags such as the Radical Design Solo Aero are a better option. ;) :) BTW Whilst searching back through posts on racks, I came across the...

    Cruzbike-a cure for midlife crisis?

I didn't assemble my Sofrider but apparently one thing to look out for is a back-to-front seat bracket. They loosely fits the bracket to the frame at the factory as they know that the new owner may need to adjust it for leg length/body size but sometimes they slap it on back-to-front. The...

    Bigger chainwheel

A bit more info about your bike might be helpful perhaps. ;) :) Freerider yes? V1 or V2? Early V2? Hence a single chainwheel right? The latest ones have a double chainwheel. Is there a maker's name and model on the cranks? You have fitted a Rohloff, haven't you? So I guess that it is a...

    Thumbies for Silvio

What a great idea Doug. That looks brilliant. :) Please post another picture and your riding (shifting?) impressions when you've got the bar tape on and ridden a few miles. Which Bacchetta Tweener bars did you use? 18.75 or 22 inches wide?
