    New Cruzer in SoCal

Why a Rohloff? IMHO Even a cheap, basic 3 speed hub gear would be an improvement over a single speed on a kid's cruzbike. :) Though I guess that you might need to pass the chain around some idler wheels to allow for TFT adjustments. Something like a Brompton chain tensioner perhaps?

Strapless Toe Clips / Power Grips

Found some better pictures of the pedals on the manufacturer's website. Text is in Japanese. I guess that it is Japanese. I've no idea! MM Cube Ezy, the clipless pedals which I've ordered. XP Ezy, the resin-bodied, plain pedals which I already have.

Strapless Toe Clips / Power Grips

Hi folks Thanks for all the replies and welcome to the forum Rupert. After giving the matter a lot of thought and before all of these posts this week, I came to a decision and decided to go clipless on my Sofrider but with a twist. ;) :) My folding bike (Montague Paratrooper) has MKS MM XP...

    Thumbies for Silvio

Doug Any updates? Have you taped the bars on the "not" Silvio? Though I heard that bar taping isn't your favourite pastime. ;) :)

Looks pretty good. :) Better than before.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS, WHICH DONOR TO CHOOSE!!!!

Good Choice! :) Let us know how it goes once its built up and you've ridden it.

    possible tandem frame

Thanks for the link John. Very interesting tandem. :) I hadn't really thought about back to back. Certainly gets around the communication issue with the transmission when the rider's heads are so close together. ;) :)
  9. Gromit

    possible tandem frame

Do you think it better that the stoker just sits still and lets the captain balance the tandem? That would be a lot of mass to move for one person. Two people and a heavier frame than a solo Cruzbike.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS, WHICH DONOR TO CHOOSE!!!!

Which donor bike did you choose?
  11. Gromit

    possible tandem frame

Okay. I'll lay off the transmission issue. ;) What about balancing the tandem? I wonder what the learning curve would be like in learning to ride it? Maybe two experienced Cruzbike riders would get on better than an experienced Cruzbiker and a novice. What do you think?
  12. Gromit

    possible tandem frame

Wouldn't be very easy to control. With two separate drive systems under the control of two different people. Guy on the front brakes but rear guy carries on pedalling. :?
  13. Gromit

    possible tandem frame

Would the rear rider contribute to the propulsion of the tandem? If so, how? :?

Strapless Toe Clips / Power Grips

South Shields, despite its name (South) is near to Newcastle Upon Tyne in the North East of England, i.e. nearly in Scotland. :) So has anyone on here used Strapless Toe Clips (Half Toe Clips) or Power Grips on their Cruzbike? ;) :)
  15. Gromit

    Short cranks

Maybe the Cruzbike's MBB is also a factor to take into account? Though one of the supposed benefits of the shorter cranks is a reduction in strain on the knees. One for Dr. Jim? :)
  16. Gromit

    Short cranks

Mark How tall are you? Maybe the length of your legs is a factor? Longer legs. Less advantage in using shorter cranks?

Strapless Toe Clips / Power Grips

Thanks Jon I went to the Velovision online archive and looked at the picture. My memory of them was correct. The ICE men, the chap was referring to, was the guys at Trice. http://www.ice.hpv.co.uk ICE stands for Inspired Cycle Engineering

Strapless Toe Clips / Power Grips

Teacherbill I assume you are referring to the Trice heel hook thingies. They stopped making them some years back. As I recall, from memory. I never actually saw any up close, only in photos. They may have been made of plastic? To make some, think of two L-shaped pieces where the vertical part...

Strapless Toe Clips / Power Grips

Thanks Jon As I said in the first post, I am familiar with SPD pedals but having used them on a trike, I don't feel very confident about using them on my Cruzbike just yet. That is why I asked about Power Grips or strapless toe clips. Sadly, the nature of my job doesn't allow me to cycle to...

Strapless Toe Clips / Power Grips

Has anyone on here used Strapless Toe Clips (Half Toe Clips) or Power Grips on their Cruzbike? What do you think about them? Would you rate one higher than the other or are they both useless on a Cruzbike? :) I do quite a bit of city riding on my Sofrider and I'm therefore a bit wary of...
