Cruzbike on Welsh Mountain Roads in Winter - GCN

I also linked to a video of my S40 and they blocked it. :( Oh, well it's their channel and they have a right to.

Cruzbike on Welsh Mountain Roads in Winter - GCN

Marco Ruga , the MBB recumbent expert from Italy has also chimed in through his youtube channel and he was not impressed. (I used subscripts and enable translation). He almost believes there is a conspiracy:rolleyes:. He wonders, why a channel with such a big following as the GCN, would take...

Cruzbike on Welsh Mountain Roads in Winter - GCN

Despite the publicity it gives us, I must confess, I was embarrassed by the ill-fitting bike. Why such long chainstays resulting in such a high bottom bracket? It's not appropriate for a steep climb, let alone for a beginner. Then add the narrower than usual handlebar . He was so unstable...

    s40 gen 6

The only thing I would to change on the S40 is the seat. It would be cool if it came pre-installed with the adjustable carbon fiber seat. The drivetrain groupset, wheelset e.t.c can always be changed by the user.

    145 mm cranks

Guys, guys, take it easy. It's never that serious. Just test and verify what works for you and allow sufficient time for the body to adapt to each change. May you all enjoy your rides.

Have you guys tried IndieVelo? It's still free but pretty nice. https://indievelo.com/

    145 mm cranks

I also concur with @vosadrian . With all else equal, the shorter crank should make the top gear feel harder than the same gear with a longer crank. My experience was on a 165mm crank versus a 170mm. My cadence was slightly higher, about +5rpm, on the 165mm cranks and I could achieve a slightly...

First s40 in Poland from Cruzeum

Hahaha! Very keenly spotted! Yes, that's how my forum name came about! (I got it from a company I used to do Linux admin/dev work for a couple of decades ago)

First s40 in Poland from Cruzeum

It's hard to describe it, but it does take a while to really fine tune the fit. There is a certain sweet spot for the boom extension and cleat position that will allow you to really engage the quads. There is a technique and skill that takes time to master. Offcourse there is a limit to the...

    145 mm cranks

$90 for science! :) Looking forward to your findings! Anyway, I had the privilege to compare 170mm vs 165mm becuase the Cruzbike S40 came with a 165mm SRAM Apex1 crank. Previously I had a homemade recumbent (cruzbike copy) with 170mm cranks. First impression, was my average cadence went up...

    145 mm cranks

Interesting discussion. I have also been curious and have done some bit of reasearch. One thing is clear though, most formulas on crank length are intended for upright bicycles. They tend to yield slightly longer cranks than recumbent specific cranklength calculators. Here is one specifically...

Can the S30 natively accept thru axle disc wheels?

There are thru axle to QR adapters. Like these : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006254265932.html

Cyclo Tourist - Azub Trike Frame fails

We are used to it. Our reflexes and awareness has been sharpened. However that was a major highway. A very busy one. We also have some minor roads that are a bit more deserted and not as bad.

    Q45 ltwoo egr groupset upgrade

Those would work best if you change your handlebar to flared dropbars like these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005594611843.html The flare helps to avoid hitting your knees when shifting gears. 440mm or 460 would work.

    First Cruzbike s40 vs v20c

Yes, under certian conditions: 1. Wet surfaces/loose surfaces (especially without sufficient momentum) 2. Sudden increase in torque 3. hill starts especially starting on super low gear I find riding the S40 from 13-15% (and above) likely to create lose of traction. At these steep grades it...

    Affordable "Cruzbike" Short Cranks

To add to what Larry said, I came across the online calculator below, though Iam yet to try anything shorter than 165mm (which came with my S40). Iam currently using 170mm cranks becuase I got a crank based powermeter on it. http://www.recumbents.com/wisil/misc/crank_angle.asp

    First Cruzbike s40 vs v20c

If you like climbing steep grades and would like to use the 1x drivetrains then, I suggest atleast a 1:1 gear ratio at the lower end or even less. The reason is that there is no "off saddling" on a recumbent. You can "bridge" for a short time(5 - 10 seconds) but extended climbs need a good low...
