Why are new bikes so heavy?

I actually love direct mount rim brakes... they just feel superior to the normal caliper rim brakes. Where I live its dry and sunny most of the year. But disk brake even though its heavier would be an aero advantage when above 25kph. One of this years modifications to the Vendetta.

Thinking about upgrading to a V20?

You will need a very big suitcase for a Vendetta. If you really want to travel with one... go wireless. It will save you a huge amount of effort.

Why are new bikes so heavy?

Eat a pizza for lunch and do your check in the evening. Most riders are stronger later in the day.

Why are new bikes so heavy?

Muscle comes back into shape quickly and water retention will fall off and the fat collapse... it wont take long at all.

    TTrike!!!!

Up up and away. Absurd ideas sometimes have merits. Just supposing a S40 had 3 wheels and a parasending chute ... that would have to be the most incredible experience. You would even be able to cycle back home easily after landing

    Merry Christmas

I had a christmas day ride today. Too many cars on the road travelling to their in laws.... Christmas is a moment to worship the star you are. I turned the corner at los urritias and there were 10 flamingos feeding on a mirror lake. I ate my biscuits whilst watching them. Great treasure...

Flying the Flag without the drag

I don't think it's that noticable. Do you really need two bottles.... that looks excessive. They are good bottles. I got one and love it

Does weight training offer any tangible benefit?

Well... good for the sprinting on an upright but perhaps not so good on a recumbent. Muscle weighs more too and it makes you less flexible. Still think squats and bicep curls would be worth doing. It's nice to tighten up the biceps on those short hills and max the power. Me... I dont go to the...

    Helmets for Recumbents

I think the helmet is good... it doesnt fit quite well on the head as the giro air and the clasp is a bit clunky. I think its sure value for money and if you put draft excluder tape on the bottom edge of the visor; in my mind it's better than the giro air with visor. Lighter for sure and I dont...

    Wireless Computer

I would love the day when I can put a contact lens on my eye that has an augmented reality interface. That would be really good... but Elon is always pioneering new technology like a mobile phone brain interface. My wahoo elemnt sticks out in the air too much... must take 4watts at 40kph...

    Helmets for Recumbents

Well my 10cents... giro air attack is good for cold climates but expensive. Or do what I did recently and buy cheap chinese one... the whole helmet and 3 lenses is cheaper than one air attack visor

    V20 build

Hey Harry, Getting back to your build... if you want to put covers on your rear wheel you might want to keep rim brakes on that and just have hydro front disc brake on the front. It's quite nice not having to go out and buying a purpose rear disc wheel and another wheel for everyday riding. It...

    V20 build

It could have been worse.... you could have been riding an upright and whatever it was would have you going over the top head first for sure. Very sorry about the shattered ankle. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
