    Hurricane Florence passing through

Good question. What sort of lube? Will you strip down the drivetrain and the hubs? In this situation mudguards are no use at all. The underseat bag will be soaked. You need a topbox. And the holes in the road are invisible. And how many watts are lost due to the wake?

    Hurricane Florence passing through

What an advert! You keep talking about "Here comes Jason, oops, missed him" but this is the "go anywhere, do anything" bike. Cruzbike helps to coordinate rescue efforts in Lumberton. Very practical. Orange is a high-visibility colour.

Are FLO wheels really this slow...??

Last milennium I was on my Claud Butler going downhill and a big lorry overtook. The type that has a container and another container on a trailer. Ground wave? You have no IDEA! Big steer on the front wheel. I was between the lorry and the trailer. Somehow I stayed upright and did not use...

    Getting Off the Fence

What did you do to your Cruzbike today? My Silvio does not mind the cold.

Chain WAXing (yes it's that easy) - and other mysteries of this art!

I had a chain with a master link whichnI took off and put back on again several times. When I got my new chain and new master link I did not realize that they had changed the design. I took it off to rewax it and when I put it back on again it was really hard to close the master link. I...

Hope all is well in Lumberton. They do slow down as they go overland. How far are you from the sea?

    Road bike vs. recumbent comparison

Anyway, why pick on Balor, is Balor worse than ed72 or Osiris? And now Jason has been drawn in. Terrible! Those who do not like reading this thread are not allowed to read it.

My first Recumbent, my first week...

I have inverted Crononero on my Silvio and the bar-ends stick up. My hands are a bit high, like Chopper bars, but I still can use a lot of arm force.

    Road bike vs. recumbent comparison

We all know that DF bikes are uncomfortable, but bending over backwards sounds even worse. Balor's designs are getting really weird now.

    Road bike vs. recumbent comparison

You do not have to be on a SS MTB, a Cruzbike will do just as well. I grind my Silvio up the hill at 4mph and 60rpm, sometimes lower than those numbers. Scraping helps to avoid wheel-spin. Also, it means you are pushing down, which has no effect on steering. So there's less wandering all...

    Getting Off the Fence

Blackburn Design does a mirror that fits onto road brake hoods. Works really well.

    XShifter...new wireless shifting option

    That work-stand is absolute genius.

Our Three T50 Builds, and Maybe a Sofrider Retro-fit

Been there, done that. Incompatible brakes on the Silvio. Downhill was great, as long as the lights at the bottom stayed green. And the palaver with the gears. The shifter had the thing you screw to make the cable looser or tighter. Turn it clockwise and get bottom gear but not top...

    Crash due to flat tire

Like what I did. At exactly the moment it happened I was looking at my speedo and it said 27. I have gone about 5k on my Silvio, at about the same speed as you. I have done more miles on my Grasshopper, and a lot more on various DF years ago. All of which include a lot of commuting, which is...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Internet seems to think it is a hassle, and air comes out between the tyre and the rim. I think I will stay with tubes. If I get new rims, maybe UST, cos they are designed for it.

    Getting Off the Fence

For touring on a Silvio - no complaints, although I do not go long enough distances to call it "touring". Silvio is okay on slightly rough roads, but not as good as a bike with springs. Silvio cannot carry much unless you modify it. If I want to carry enormous sacks of spuds and bounce up and...
