My heart broke with my boom today

The Cruzbike people are a hell of a bunch - both the sellers and the buyers. That person who wired it together was clever. I like fence wire. Fence wire is almost as useful as a rubber mallet.

The only way to achieve that speed is to go downhill. Absolutely bloody terrifying. I did that at 30mph. Not funny. Since then I have reached 40mph. I had to stop afterwards to look at my maximum speed, because I could not take my eyes off the road to look at the speedo.

My heart broke with my boom today

Terrible. My frame broke and Cruzbike gave me a new one free.

When you think you are going too fast to avoid dying, you realise you are going too fast to brake without skidding and dying. When you finally get it down to a manageable speed, you realise you have just been living.

    FWD Velomobile.

When I went to the races at Redbridge that white velo thing was there. Very tough construction. You can see that it has been well used. And they had the lid with them.

Bikes always know when to throw you. They watch. They also make a bee-line for holes in the road. Just what bikes do.

    It has became normal

I agree. I hit a hole and bent my wheel, but I do not do it on purpose. Fair dinkum, I know it's an Aussie bike, but it's not a bloody kangaroo, mate.

    V20 on velodrome

That fixie looks awesome, but that saddle is so high and the bars are so low... Glad I gave up DF. The challenge is to design a crit-winning 'bent.

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

I got my home-made shifter to work with a Jtek Shiftmate. Clever idea, mate.

It is easy, on a downslope, to ride your brakes. Any muppet can do that. But just before you stop, and just after you start up again, you will be going slowly. You do not have a choice about this. So you need to learn to go slowly. You will be at an intersection, or in the park or similar...

    Longer chainstay = more speed

Midfoot. If you want to ride on the balls of your feet you need to put more space between the toe-clips and the pedals.

    Longer chainstay = more speed

Below are two pix of the Silvio pedals. Below is the Grasshopper. I am a bit scared of unclipping from clipless. I know what would happen if I got clipless and tried shoe-drilling. I would drill it wrong, try again, drill it wrong, so on until the shoes would fall to bits. Then buy...

Asthma on the bike - affected by the cold?

My asthma was too bad for that. Ventolin cured it immediately. What an amazing experience it was using that for the first time. I will never forget that. Only asthmatics know this feeling. Why is anyone talking about Froome? They have all been drugged up to the eyeballs since cycle racing...

    V20 on velodrome

J Perez rides both. You want Perez v Perez. How difficult would it be for him to get used to a track bike? How different is the orange Trek from a track bike? These DF bikes all look the same to me.

But what kind of nutter would want to ride a contraption like that?

What this person needs is some way to make a Cruzbike into a DF. Some sort of kit that facilitates conversion.

Asthma on the bike - affected by the cold?

I was asthmatic when I was young. Loads of people are triggered by change in air temperature, or just cold air. That was my one. A virus can bring it on. That used to get me too. Somebody clever than I am should invent a mask, like an anti-pollution mask, that heats up the air as you...

    S40 Fenders

Quite an effort indeed. I had to custom-make mine. The front one is held on with fence wire. I always have a bit of fence wire somewhere on my bike. It is something a Fred has to do.

    It has became normal

That is huge, more like a wall. Do not attack kerbs. They get offended and hit back. There are police in London who can ride their bikes down flights of stairs. Get a bike like they use.

    My Experience Learning to Ride

I think it is counter-leaning. When I first got the Silvio I realised that I kept falling towards the inside when turning at low speed. So, when entering a low-speed turn I forced myself to lean less, so I felt that I was about to fall outwards. This worked. This bike leans less than other...
