    warped disc brake rotor

Brakes lose their temper? What do they do, start shouting? Flying down this bloody hill and now he wants to stop! And this heat is getting to me! Well I'm not having it! Tell you what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna fade right now and see how he likes it!

    Climbing hills on a V20?

I ride on my insteps on both my bikes. I am not fast or powerful, I just prefer it. Mike Burrows says that the conventional foot-placement is a myth that evolved because people on DF were getting toe-strike. When I got a 'bent I gave up riding on my balls (of my feet).

    SaferCycling

Not only safe but secure. Easy to lean it against a lamp-post and thread a lock through the cage. The cage is a nice place to bolt your mirror and your gopro. You could fit a rain-proof cover. You would be blown all over the road. Which might result in your getting run over

Velogical Rim Dynamo audax u not.

As the owner of two Schmidt dynamos I have to say that that looks pretty sweet mate. How many modern dynamos run on the rim instead of the tyre? I hate battery lights. If you are charging your phone, you could charge an electronic shifter. Electric bikes and dynamos. A cyclist can use...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

Thanks for this thread. I have started doing it, and it works. The steering effect is negligible. Suz is right.

    Cruzbike in the Snow

I have Grand Prix 4000 25mm on 19mm rims. I weigh 175LB, which unfortunately includes about 20LB of belly. Weight helps traction. Snow was about 5cm. Some places had salt and lots of cars and were free of snow. Other places had no salt, very few cars and snow like flour. Almost no trouble...

    The Cadence Conversations

Maybe I will be as fast as Larry when I reach Larry's age. Maybe I will never reach Larry's age, and the bear will get some self-slaughtered meat.

    The Cadence Conversations

I do not think I will ever get anywhere near the pain threshold. In order to do so I have to go through the breathlessness threshold, which I seem to reach really easily. My lungs are my power meter. I like to keep my effort constant. Would it be better training to sprint unto the point of...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

This is what it is like on the London-Essex border. Worse than Ely?

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Flat tyre in the wilds of Essex, so I took the wheel off and replaced the inner tube by the roadside. Front wheel. To my own amazement I got the wheel back on really easily, with the chain threaded correctly and all. In the freezing cold howling east wind. I remember, years ago, I would pump...

    Going to a 1x11 setup?

I have XX1 on my Silvio, chiefly because I hate double chainwheels. I have 11sp 10-42. I like the ratios, but I am not a serious racer trying to destroy the ego of J Perez. I could not manage that, even with the right ratios. On the smallest cog, the chain was trapped by the dropouts. I put...

The downside of commuting. At least now, when you want to move you can just move, without the panic.

    Lightweight sprocket cassette for S40

Strong, light, cheap. Chose two, you cannot have all three. The weight of the sprocket does not effect the steering much, because it is so close to the steering-axis. The weight that counts is the crankset etc, because it is waving around on the end of the boom.

    Standard v's Vendetta riding

Go round a corner too fast on a gravel path - that should do it. You do not have to completely abandon your DF. Just do more miles on the V. However fast you are on the DF, the V will eventually beat it. Painlessly.

Electric conversion to a Quest 451

Blimey, bad news indeed! How fast were you going? Did you survive?
