    Buying a used V20 Vendetta.

This is the first of the V20 line, with the newer style boom/slider, and carbon fiber seatpan replacing an older, less adjustable boom/slider and heavier fiberglass seatpan of the Vendetta v.2. The bike did not change much--mostly paint and graphics schemes--until the V20c came out not that...

    Handling challenges with the S40

I do what @Beano does, except when I'm moving through tight and/or narrow turns I shift into an easy gear and use my still-clipped in foot to pedal full spins through the turn, rather than ratcheting the crank. It seems like both methods would work fine and is more a matter of preference.

Must be something in the water

Well done! That was my experience years ago with the V20. The first three-quarters of the learning curve seemed steep, long, slow, and filled with a lot of doubt. But the last part came quickly and my doubts vanished. I've always struggled with the concept of faith, but buying into and...

V20 - bike fit / BB position input

I am 5'4" and have had to cut a couple inches off of the slider of every Cruzbike I've owned, including my V20c. The only "issue" with doing so has to do with selling the bike down the road; you have to let prospective buyers know that your bike will best fit those in the shorter half of the...

unfortunately still zig zaging going occasionally

Eight years ago I went from a DF road bike to a V20. It took me many short practice sessions at first. It was pretty repetitive, but with each round my brain wiring for riding this kind of bike came in a little bit more. With each next outing, the bike was a little easier to ride. After...

    Buying a used V20 Vendetta.

The older chainstay clamp presents two minor issues. One is that you are limited to flat-outer surface bottom bracket cups of a certain circumference to serve as the clamping surface for the chainstay. Such bb's are out there, but the selection is limited. Second, bb cups were never designed...

    Buying a used V20 Vendetta.

Yup, that's older clamp style, sure enough. When the burgundy V20 replaced the yellow v.2, it came with the more current boom/slider that was much more adjustable than the big silver/yellow setup. I ordered that boom/slider and a short chainstay for my yellow v.2, and the chainstay was of the...

    Buying a used V20 Vendetta.

Briefly back to chainstays... The V20 shipped with a 19.5in. "medium" chainstay." Again, at 5'5", with proportionately shorter legs, that chainstay put my feet too high up, and the handlebar too close to my lap. The handling was funky. I ordered the "short" 16.5in. stay, along with a curved...

    Buying a used V20 Vendetta.

Hi Maverick1, I have never ridden a Bacchetta, and it bugs me when people say, "I have never ___________, but I'm going to give you my inexpert opinion anyway," so I won't try to compare the V20 to the Giro. But as an eight-year V20/V20c rider I can offer a little insight... The V does have a...

    Like flying a helicopter

Nice! You're basically creating new brain wiring, which I think is best done through a series of short repetitions, just like what you describe. Each repetition brings you closer to the ride where you realize, "hey, I've been riding for an hour, and I haven't had to even think about what I'm...

    SRAM eTap and Availability

I have bought groupsets at good prices from Merlin Cycles the the U.K. They also have good deals on tires. Stuff tends to arrive in about a week and a half, maybe two weeks. https://www.merlincycles.com/en-us/groupsets-93716/ I'm fairly sure that the newer electric shifting groups are all...

Front Wheel Slippage - How Serious is It?

What follows is only my experience spread over eight years of riding various Cruzbikes. Others may have different experiences... Wheel slippage while climbing is pretty rare for me, and I climb quite a lot. When it happens it is usually due to either a wet road surface or old, poor quality...

Seeking advice for new V20c rider

Hills were scary at first, partly because I was still getting used to how the V20 balanced. Humming along at 20mph was one thing; wobbling along at 6mph was another. @Tuloose is right: with practice, the mind and body figure it out and hill climbing becomes just about as natural as any other...

Seeking advice for new V20c rider

The "death grip" is pretty normal at first. And yes, you can injure yourself, as I did. Eventually, after the brain is done rewiring itself, the sensation of having your feet involved in the steering comes to feel natural, the pedal stroke smooths out, and you'll need only a light touch with...

Cruzbike V20 Vendetta Recumbent Bike For Sale - off market

I've sold a couple of Cruzbikes over the years, starting each time by posting it here on the forum at what I believed were fair prices. After no real action, I moved them over to eBay, where they sold quickly for the same asking price. While I don't love eBay's listing fees, their browsing...

Seeking advice for new V20c rider

Once you get over the initial heebee-geebees, I'd recommend going clipless. Since the feet are part of the steering, having the feet connected directly helps to make handling the bike more consistent and predictable. If your feet aren't connected, they can shift or slip off, and any such...

    Brand New - Cruzbike S30 - $3,200 -sold

This frame will not work with a Viscoset because the bearing cups are incorporated into the head tube, like the older V20's. The Viscoset uses press-fit bearing cups. Man, I'm kinda surprised this frameset is still on the market.

Seeking advice for new V20c rider

Ditto. I also started on the V20, and it took me about 1000 miles before I didn't have to think (much) about what I was doing. I did spend some time wondering if I'd made an expensive mistake, but brute stubbornness got me through those first couple months. "I can do this, dammit!" That was...

    Brand New - Cruzbike S30 - $3,200 -sold

The V20 and S30 front ends are the same. The S30, when new like this one, does come with the older style chainstay that clamps around the bb cups. The newer, more inboard-clamping V20 chainstay is a worthy switch and easy to do, as long as CB has them in stock.
