    knees and hills

Over the course of six years of riding various Cruzbikes, I have had no knee troubles. Getting the right fit is important and can involve some trial and error. Also, many CB riders, including myself, use shorter-than-standard cranks arms, which helps to keep the knees from bending too much...

How to make your Vendetta as fast as possible

I own and ride both a V20 and S30. Both are fast, efficient, climb well, and gobble up miles. I've done several centuries on each, with similar results and perceived fatigue. For me, the V20 is a little more fun to ride, and when speed and distance really matter, like for a double century, I...

    oval chainring

@Randyc3 Yes. You are spending a little less time in your pedal stroke in the power stroke, and a little more time in the dead spot. Better for your knees, perhaps, but it works a bit against your power.

    oval chainring

@billyk Yeah, what John describes sounds about right. @trplay With my Doval rings on a five-arm spider, I was running them about 90 degrees off from where they are now. I had the wrong five holes lined up with the wrong five holes, and rode them that way for a long time.

    oval chainring

Here's my story: I had been running Doval chainrings (out of South Korea, no longer available) for years according to the positioning suggestions for recumbents. Then, as an experiment, I mounted a set of Osymetric rings ("If a little bit of ovality--Doval--is good, would a lot of...

V20 for Sale in Florida - SOLD

I do agree. The Spy mirrors do not have the clearest optics, and at first I didn't like them. But over time I got used to them and can now tell what is behind me me without issue. I like them because they are small, east to mount out of the way, and light weight. But you're right that there...

V20 for Sale in Florida - SOLD

Yeah. Mirrors are must. The Zefal Spy mirrors work fine for me.

V20 for Sale in Florida - SOLD

@mcdavidst I have owned and put many miles on the full CB range, and had no trouble moving back and forth between the bikes. Once you have the mbb pedaling dynamics down, it pretty much transfers across the models. While the Quest and S40 were a little "easier" to ride, the V has consistently...

Too big or too small for Cruzbike? Check the Chart. Take the Poll.

Yeah, I'm planning to order one. I'll figure out how to make it fit, just like I did with the v.2.

Too big or too small for Cruzbike? Check the Chart. Take the Poll.

@jond This is my 35th year of cycling, and my 6th year on a V20 (what is really a V 2.0). I often catch myself wishing that I had a V back in my 20s, 30s and early 40s, but then I remember that CB didn't exist back then, and that the V 2.0 is pretty early in the V's evolution. So I guess I'm...

Too big or too small for Cruzbike? Check the Chart. Take the Poll.

Carbon molds are expensive. According to Robert H., who would certainly know, the demand for the current aluminum short chainstay has remained low and does not justify the expense. But Cruzbikers have always found ways to make things work. The wee-bit of research that I've done so far...

Too big or too small for Cruzbike? Check the Chart. Take the Poll.

@Tinker I am "short short" too, at 5'5" (165cm), and I fit my V20 because of the curved slider and short chainstay (the bike comes stock with a medium chainstay). I have heard that for the new V20c the curved slider will be available, but the short chainstay will not be offered because the low...

Whooo Hooo... My first 100 miles on a Cruzbike

Are you using clipless pedals? That has been the way to go for me, and once you are over the initial learning curve, these bikes become easier to ride while clipped in because your feet give you added control over the steering. I use double-sided Shimano SPD pedals and shoes. Easy in, easy...

Tips for Pedaling at Faster Speeds

Like the others have said, comfort at speed comes with time on the bike. You may not even be aware of the improvement over time, but one day realize, "holy smokes, I'm flying right along, and I feel fine." On the V20, many people routinely crack 50mph.

Are you a pusher or puller?

I am right handed, so I use that hand to grab, drink from, and stow my water bottle. But since in America, we ride on the right side of the road, my left hand is for waving to passing cyclists (and I wave to all of them--especially the too-pro-to-wave riders). I am comfortable with taking...

1000km, no hands... Check. I'm on it. :D

Are you a pusher or puller?

I agree with both of you. I recently learned to ride no hands on my S30, simply to see if I could do it (I can). It didn't take me long to realize this: when riding a DF bike, I, and most others, ride no hands for a time to give our neck and shoulders a short break, and to briefly shift our...
