Dynamic-boom vs. Fixed-boom Recumbent Bicycle Power Production

A rowing machine really should make it clear why it works better to anyone. Or a game of tug-o-war. When you pull at 180 degrees from your push, you exert the most force.

T50 - Everyone likes a bike you can kick start

I would very much like to know the diameter of the two boom tubes? I'm one who would be modding the boom to be more Silvio/Vendetta-like. I have a recumbent boom (from my Performer) that just might be a good size for the upper section.

T50 - Everyone likes a bike you can kick start

Loving the green and orange options. The silver is nice change from black for the front end. I suppose some will be modding that to look like the early Vendetta. ;)

    Any T50 news?

I am curious if 700c wheels will shoe-horn into it?

    Any T50 news?

I actually like the pivot built into the frame for this level of bike. Makes a lot more since for the kind of components that would be used. The slider modding is a great idea, and one I would do. It's not for everybody, and the target use of this bike (and the Q series) is a commuter/casual...

    Any T50 news?

I'm so curious about this new "basic" Cruzbike kit.

    QX100 Steering Mod

It would not be suitable to use the whole assemble. For one, that is a tilting mechanism. Probably a bad idea for a Cruzbike. That was meant as an example of the upper section of a tiller being a possible light-weight solution. Notice the handlebar clamp is part of the upper section, like the...

    QX100 Steering Mod

Those are much nicer than what I found in my image searching! :)

    QX100 Steering Mod

Found a couple options. Not the cheapest, but look good and sturdy. I've always thought the upper sliding tube should be the fatter one. So I found clamp possibilities for either inner slider, or (potentialy) outer slider. I really want that T50 frame kit now! ;) First the one for a 1.25 tube...

    QX100 Steering Mod

Oh. Not that! Those plumbing pipe repair things are very thin flexible metal. They would not have the rigidity you need.

    Disc brake levers on QX100

Getting the right cable-pull with motorcycle levers might be the tricky bit. I think cable-discs and V brakes are the same though? There are a lot of "4 finger" break levers on Ebay.

It is set up for discs.

    New cheap Cruzbike

This one will be a modders paradise, I think. You might need to shorten the aluminum extrusion to lay the seat way back, but you certainly could do that. There also seems to be a fairly reasonable way to change the steering boom setup as well. I think this could end up being a very fast, light...

    New cheap Cruzbike

It is going to be a frame kit. So all the unique parts, and then you add your components. I think it's supposed to be available in the Spring. The target price they are shooting for is around $500.00

I spotted you in Chico today!

No idea who it was, but I spotted a rider on a yellow Vendetta riding near the Chico Co-op this afternoon. That is the first Cruzbike I've seen in Chico. :)

    QX100 Steering Mod

Also try googling "folding bike stem". You'll see a few possible options. :)

I would look at the upper sections of other recumbent booms. Check out Performer, and other short wheelbase bike boom setups.

So glad to hear that! Keep on doing more.:)

    QX 100 rear shock upgrade

I would think a bit longer shock would make very little difference on a Q. Just increase the sag a little bit, and the bike will sit at the same height. It's not like a mountain bike frame where you'll have frame members colliding if the shock is to long. And yes, you need a rear shock pump...
