One last comment. Thanks for all the Infinit recommendations. 1 20 oz bottle during warm up and 4 24-oz bottles during the century worked out perfectly. Thanks.

Only odd bit - was the first time I’ve ever experienced any flack about being on a bent.
It is reasonable for a DF to prefer another DF for draft. There is little to draft behind an S40 and less behind a V20, especially in a strong headwind. In the 21-23 mph DF group I ride with, where I always stay behind the group by about 10 bike lengths, there is a significant lowering of heart rate fighting a strong headwind and it is not because I am drafting. The V20 is just really fast into a strong headwind. The DFers are struggling in this headwind and V20s are not. Now if we could just get the S40 or V20 to boost our sustained power by 150 watts...

I don't jump into pacelines either for the same reasons. But if a DF latches on, I'm good with that and will just keep my pace and hold my line.

Good job on Sebring, y'all. Living here in California made it a little far away for me.

Also to Paul's question, I have not ridden an s40 but I have ridden an older q and my t50. I am at least 5 mph faster. I would think an S would be in between depending on how its set up. Seat angle alone will be a couple

Did you make a video?
Of course - wy do it if you can't prove you did it, right?
I did have video running - and even moved the camera and battery to the V20 when I switched everything. (I remember my wife asking me if I really wanted to spend the time doing that - well of course!
I do not think it lasted the whoel 12 hours, but it probably got it for at least the first 6! I will try and process it all as soon as I can.

Guess I’m just used to my Louisville group. They’re happy to have my 60% pull despite not getting 100% impact. They know I can stay out there way longer than any DF. Different strokes I guess

My first Bike Sebring. I had a good day. The Battle of the Brands gave me the excuse to go because any number of miles would be a contribution. Right? I didn’t have to PR. (...and I didn’t.) It had been a whole year since I’d ridden a century. I’d spent the year doing social rides with the retirees. You know the ride, go 20 miles to the bakery, have a donut and ride back. Fun times. OK, I did a few other things last year like train for and hike the Grand Canyon rim to rim in one day. I highly recommend it: https://3000milestoacure.com/crossing-the-canyon/

And actually, it had been 8 months since I’d ridden my V20, preferring my S40 for the riding I was doing. But what the heck, I rode it around the block a couple times to check the shifting and threw it into the car to head to Florida. I even left my 80mm deep section wheels behind thinking they looked too pompous for my fitness level.

My plan was to stay out of trouble, don’t chase at someone else’s speed, and just keep it below lactate threshold. Nice and steady. I rode the first century solo and finished at 5h 13m. At that point I started thinking, maybe I can get to 200. I had time in the bank. I’d like to get to 200. That’s definitely my stretch goal for the day.

I did my first short loop, then Maria came up and wanted to work together. She was 12 miles ahead of me on the course. I’ve ridden with Maria enough times to know if she doesn’t give me cramps, then she’s having an off day. Unfortunately, that was the case. We finished the day riding together. If I was riding solo, I could have easily talked myself out of continuing, but I wasn’t going to mentally give up in front of her. And that kept me going.

In the end I had 206 miles, enough to tie for 2nd place with John Schlitter, behind Larry’s 1st place in the age group. And Maria had 218 miles. Not quite what she’s known for, but from my vantage point still very impressive as she was suffering and never quits.

Larry, you need a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt. Mine still had 28% battery left at the end of 12-hours.

yes the bolt truly has great battery life and superlative graphic.

However I prefer my edge 520 plus and with a small cache battery it runs for days. The maps in colour do it for me.
