Battle of the Brands - Bike Sebring 2020

Is there a way to confirm that I got signed up? I would like to check before the deadline.

I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking the other day I am about 95% sure I did but it could be like what happens in real lift for me, I think I bring up a topic in conversation only to find out that it was not said aloud and I only imagined the conversation that came from me bringing it up. I had even thought about asking this question earlier but looking back now I see I never did.

I wold say in lieu of hearing anything back from Lucia or Maria - if you are unsure if you have signed or not - go ahead and sign up -
Worst that could happen is that they would make you ride the event twice!
I would also encourage everyone to sign up for the 12-hour, even if you think only are going to do the Century. (Price is not that different) Say you completed the Century in 6 horus. Instead of sitting on your buff for 6 more hours watching everyone else have fun - take an hour or 2 break and get back on your Cruzbike and ride the 10 mile loop - even at 10-mph (I think my V20 is that fast without even pedaling) - your could rack up another 30-40-50 or more miles. If everyone does that- we could accumulate lots more miles. If the Bachetta folks have any brains (and I think they do - even if they don't ride a Cruzbike) - they have probably figured this out for themselves and are going to do the same thing!
So - Even if you "know" you signed up for the Century - with the "Battle of the Brands" - sign up again and say you want to change to 12-hour)
Yes - and you may say: I have already officially registered with Sebring for the Century - when you check in , they will let you switch events -
SO JUST "DO iT"! :p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:rolleyes:

I followed Larry’s advice. I signed up again for the 12 hour. I will switch registration on Friday at sign in. See you there.

Hi, Jane, my support angel (and wife) will be there and taking our 10 x 10 and pit table, chairs, etc. Happy to help organize with everyone a team-dedicated pit area and both of us can support anyone riding for 12. I plan to ride the 100 and then do short laps as Larry suggests.

Today is first day in *3 weeks* I have not been sick so have totally lost fitness to do anything resembling a race, but look forward to seeing everyone.

We arrive Thursday pm and will be staying at the Seven hotel.

For everyone riding 12 or 24, be sure to check the announcement on 12-24 facebook page about the change in the race course loop at the end of the day. Bummer situation and many 24s are shifting to 12 as a result.

Jeffrey,

Did they post the info anywhere else? I’ve purposely done my best to avoid Facebook over the years.

Not sure that they have. It is a public post so you may be able to read the post and the comments even without an account.

If you want to read the comments follow:

Here is the body of the announcement.

"The racetrack has informed us that the SCCA is going to have a night race Saturday night so the track will not be available. We have created at night loop that is 3.5 miles
Long. See attached map. As a result we will not have to move competitors to the race track. When you set up on midway you will be there for the 12 or 24 hours. Don’t have to worry about moving your stuff. The rest of event will be same(3 laps of race track,100 mile loop 11 mile loop till 5pm and then 3.5 mile loop all night)

Looking forward to great event
Mark Andrews"

Well as much as I figured the Century might be enough of a stretch I just re-upped for the 12 Hour. Let’s hope I’ve got the parts to keep motoring. Oddly I didn’t get an email acknowledgement like I did when I first signed up. Hope I didn’t mess up my email.

Almost died. When packing everything up I checked the status of my di2, 15%, may get me through 12 hours but better charge. Where is the cable? Spent about 2 hours looking for it and finally came across it in the last place we looked. Get it. Will be charging the di2 when we get to Florida. Just wanted to throw this out there as a bit of a reminder to all you who may be running an electric shifter setup, might want to make sure you are not running on empty.

I had the good fortune of a 50 degree day at home today. My bike is disassembled for the flight to Florida, so I took my trike out for a ride. I was able to confirm that the riding attire that I planned to wear should be warm enough for the start of the race. That was all good.

I also confirmed that the trainer was delivering more resistance than the trike does on level ground. That helped me feel better about my training. I think I will be able to ride fast enough to complete 100 miles in the time available.

I also confirmed that I am really glad that the ride route is flat. I am really slow at going uphill.

I am going to arrive Thursday afternoon and stay at the Sebring 7. I hope the weather on Friday gives me some time to get reacquainted with riding my bike and letting me get it dialed back in after reassembly.

Looking forward to meeting and riding with some tribe members.

I couldn’t get on the Q45 for the last month in Wisconsin, so did all indoor training. Driving to Sebring now with a stop in Raleigh, NC (and to visit a daughter here). Plan to get out on the bike tomorrow in Raleigh where it is reasonable biking weather & the roads aren’t icy. Arriving at the Sebring 7 Thursday evening. See you there.

Only able to manage 1 night so I’ll roll into La Quinta Inn around 3 Friday. Will probably have to roll back out before the big party at 6:30 but I’m sure somebody will be hungry enough to eat my pizza! Looking forward to seeing all who can make it.

I made it to Sebring. I added some unnecessary drama to my trip. I loaded my bike in its box and my bags into a white rental SUV. I took the luggage cart over to the side wall. Then I drove away in a different white SUV. I was 15 miles away before I realized my mistake. After a few stressful minutes on the phone, Alamo was able to confirm that my stuff was still there. I drive back and got it. Cost me about 2 hours, but I feel good now.

My box looks good from the outside after the flight. D0F4C280-45EC-443B-B5A2-FB92FF44EB1E.jpeg

I will put my bike back together in my room after dinner.

@Brad R gets the "oh sh*t" award for the day.
My son asked me if I used any bad language when I realized my mistake. I told him it was possible, but I didn’t honestly remember.

I remembered this evening that I forgot to transfer my wheel speed and cadence senders from my training trike bake to my bike. But that seems like a very small issue now.
