If you are wrapping it over bar tape then it should be holding pretty well. If you are putting it on the bare section of the bar then maybe adding a thin strip of rubber will help keep it snug. I had a bike light on my DF seat post that would slip. After adding a thin strip of rubber it hasn't moved at all.

OK, good idea. I just ordered a Garmin Varia RTL515 from Amazon Prime w/2-day.

BTW, I ordered the more expensive Zefal Spy mirror from CB with my V20, but it's a PoS. It won't stay in place on my handlebar at all. Is anybody using it?
I have two of them. They seem to stay in place pretty well for me although I have a couple of wraps of bar tape underneath them and have tightened the screw that holds the mirror down pretty tight. They're actually my favorite mirror.

I'm not crazy about the Zefal Spy Mirrors. They move around if bumped and get scratched easily. I have them on my S40, but on my Vendetta, I'm using the B&M Cyclestar Mirror. It holds better and the glass is flat, so the what you see isn't distorted...

Blessings,

What you view as a bug, I view as a feature: that they move around if bumped. Mine are tight enough that they stay in place during normal riding but if I bump up against them they come out of adjustment but they are easily readjusted. More rigid mirrors (e.g., the B&M) are harder to get back into position.

No right answer, just different priorities.

Zefal spy plastic mirrors that I have are all distortion and scratch very easily. Just my opinion, I really hate them. B&M are glass and distortion free with larger FOV. I did come up with my own way of mounting the hose clamp. I removed the metal stalk and attached the mirror directly to the hose clamp. The clamp is lose enough that I can move and rotate with my hand but not so lose that it will move when I hit a pothole. Peter White has pictures of the hardware.

The best helmet mirror that I have seen resides on M. Thomas' helmet, you'd have to track it down on FB. This is what I use. EVT Safe Zone mirror. It is the only one I found that does not jiggle and bounce around, plus very clear glass. YMMV.

It is a great product all around. Mirror is big and flat and true. Retention system is first rate. My problem w it is that in short and stubby mode it’s impossible to get it in the right position on my V bars. If yours isn’t staying in place it is either defective or you don’t have it set up right

OK, you sold me. I'll order a couple and give them a try (though not from Peter White).

:) Mirrors are like tires and chain lube. I believe I got mine from Bended up cycling in the Los Angeles area.....can't recalll but it was a bent type shop. The right height for the mirror is probably unique to the rider's position and how they are mounted. I am going to try the Garmin Varia, Westernbikes has them for about 150 on black friday

Make sure to get the hose clamp connection, too

Duh.....Cruz sells them https://cruzbike.com/products/bm-cyclestar-mirror

I've started riding on the road with the Varia, but the traffic display on the LCD screen was useless. Then I found that you could display the radar data on the left side LED's. That works great because you can see the traffic even when your eyes are focused down the road.

I have had Zefal Spys mounted on all my Cruzbikes except for my T50.
They are small & aero, work great and I love them.
They do not scratch unless you try to scratch them and the image is not distorted, at least not enough to matter.
The secret to mounting them is to mount them on the brifters.
This way your hands almost never come in contact with them, they don't move around and mounting them there prevents one from placing their hands on the brifter hoods, a position that I have found leads to sloppy handling characteristics.
I have them mounted on both brifters and have never had a problem with my rear vision.

Here's the latest:

I've added 20mm road handlebar extensions to the stock bars to get a lower hand position with the stock chain stays. Much better.

I added a auto seat aftermarket neck pillow to get my head in a more comfortable position. Much better.

I swapped the radial laced non-drive wheel for a 3x laced one. Much better.

Tuloose's comments about the Zefal Spy mirrors made me laugh out loud, especially, "They do not scratch unless you try to scratch them." I have them on three CBs and they work just fine. I wrap my bars a few inches past the brake hoods and mount the mirrors over that part of the wrap. They stay put, are out of the way, and remain pretty darn aero as far as having mirrors goes.
