THE NEW Q IS COMING

Ordered mine in the green/blue. Paypal sent me a zillion emails and it looked like a duplicate order, so I emailed Cruzbike to cancel it thinking it was double processed. Hopefully the team at Cruzbike understand my follow up email and this goes smoothly. I NEVER use Paypal and was not ready for the trillion emails they send.

Add me to to those who ordered a Q45 - got the $300 discount.
Chose grey.
This is my first CruzBike - had to park my DF bikes after TOS showed up last year. Bought a new road bike to replace a 30 yo Canondale and all those miles brought out the extent of the damage in both shoulders (shredded rotator cuffs).
What can I expect for a learning curve?

AND: will I be able to transfer my rear rack in the DF road bike to the Q45?

Learning curve varies widely by attitude and method.
suggest you treat it as something new {not a bike } , a new toy , and have fun finding out what it does and can do.
There are a nice set of drills, designed to help.
Riding fast and straight without knowing how to make slow turns is a recipie for disaster.
Trying to FORCE the cruzbike to behave like a DF will gain you sore forearms and an extended learning curve.
enjoy,,,, many people will give you helpful tips , if you post your concerns once you get started.

Very few accessories from the DF world will fit " Off the rack".errr without tailoring.
That being said, modifying and experimenting are a cruzbike tradition !
Good news: there are more cruzbike specific options available than ever before.

Congrats to everyone that have ordered the new Q and picked up the discount!

I’m in paralysis mode myself. Q45 vs S40 ... the Q I *think* will be closer to my trike. The S40 is intriguing for speed.

Anyone know what that little stem thing is on the Q45, pointing back from the bottom bracket?

If you go to the Q45 page and scroll down to the picture of the gray one, it's there, kinda aimed at the seat.
It's also in the picture of the red/orange one with the racks mounted on it, clearly showing that it is not part of the light mounting point.

It is for a braze-on type FD. It's the same front end as the V and S, and so has the same features, with the difference of the steerer being much longer.

Cyberphage - I'm a bit ahead of you w a new (and first bent of any kind) S40. Recent build after building many DF and 10s of thousands of miles. As 1happyreader posted, avoid going for straight line pace before feeling very comfortable on the slow tight turns. My second day out I did a bunch of parking lot drills and started to feel ok. Left the lot to zip around some roads and quickly learned I have a ways to go. Just barely corrected a serious wobble at 18mph narrowly escaping a major disaster. I'm back to slow and lots of turns, gradually getting there. This is not a skill to develop w any sense of macho pride. We all look silly getting there. Just part of the game. Hang with it!

I almost got myself into a dutch roll situation on a short downhill at about 40kph (yes, I'm European :p ) in about 3 seconds the thought pattern was

- Holy $h!t, this is going to hurt
- my wife is going to say I told you so
- relax
- relax !!
- relax for f@Ck$ sake!!!!

I relaxed, it was all over.

Not to say I won't be doing car park drills this weekend - I think I've found the perfect spot, but I need to ride to get there.

This is not my most scary "lack of control" situation though, that was on a fell marathon in the north of England, coming down a fairly steep rock strewn slope, my body over rotated and I could feel my shoulders getting ahead of my feet, which if it goes wrong does not end well. My little legs moved as fast as they ever have with mental thoughts of "oh $h!t" being repeated. That had my highest heart rate of the race, over 190, going downhill.

Sounds like we're all in different parts of the same boat! But I think it will be a little while before I try to hit 40kph even if I translate it to mph!

Having just spent a lot of money on a secondhand 451 (and more to come in replacement parts), I'm following this thread with a perverse combined sense of intense buyers remorse and enthusiastic curiosity.

Like: besides the obvious physical difference, what is the difference in handling/performance/miscellaneous between the steering column on my 451 (v2) and the design in the Q45?

KneeDrachen, we will both be eagerly awaiting the Fedex delivery on the 29th.. My notice said between 8:05am and 12:40pm....Now that is being pretty precise
on a delivery window.... I'm taking my first vacation day of the year to sign for and probably assemble it and learn some new riding techniques...Wish the temperature
forecast was a little more promising than 40F degrees, but is a heat wave compared to what it's been recently...I don't know any company where the CEO, Maria, sends a personal email congratulating and thanking a new purchaser. I answered her question about where I heard about Cruzbike and shortly after got another personal email back.... I sent an email to Gary Solomon at Laidback Bike Report explaining that his video sparked my interest in Cruzbike and he replied saying the Parkers treat the Cruzbike riders like family. His comment is ringing true...

Definitely - I had the same experience on purchasing my S40

My Q45 is scheduled to arrive on the 27th, but my week is crazy so I probably won't get it assembled until the weekend. I also was impressed with the nice welcome email from Maria.

I've been tracking, between 0840 and 1240 on the 29th. At the firehouse Saturday, maybe working a double, Easter on Sunday. I'm just a bit nervous about it arriving damaged, we've not had the best experience with FedEx on our end. The assembly video makes it look pretty well padded, but like old saying of making something idiot-proof...

Hey all - The Q45's have been steadily going out. PLEASE make sure you review the assembly video and instructions in full. There are some things to keep your eyes open for during assembly for proper adjustment, etc. Hopefully you won't have any issues and the few I saw were isolated, but they are easy fixes. I have posted a sticky thread and will be adding assembly tips to it over time.

The "Big 3" to look for:

1. Washers for the pivot clamp. There should be three and they should be on the OUTSIDE of the clamp. Pics of this are in the video.

2. Rear brake when mounted to the frame tab should have a washer. This is to keep the bolt from extending too far and contacting the rotor.

3. Rear Derraileur cable routing. This HAS to be checked. The assembly docs cover this in detail.

Other things are the usual - brakes must be adjusted and tightened, make sure you don't overtighten bolts, etc etc.

The bike rides AWESOME and I do not think anyone will be disappointed.

My shipping time has been rescheduled to 1230-1530, on the 29th so its a pretty narrow window but it is slowly making its way across the country. I was going to jump on the Roubaix last night on the trainer but declined, the idea of a numb groin just didn't seem appealing.
