I honestly only noticed 3 of the 5 ride on's I received. I was so far in the pain cave I was drowning in darkness

Ok tomorrow morning sunday at 8am PST I plan to enter the ZHR Great Watopian Mountain Goat Road Race. Each different category does a different number of flat watopia loops and then ascends the epic kom climb finishing the race at the epic kom banner. Read the ride description carefully so you understand how the race works and you don't miss the two left hand turn to go up the mountain after your flat laps are done. I believe if you select the mountain route at start up and ride your warm-up as such when the event module releases you, you'll make both the needed left hand turns automatically(this is unconfirmed). Due to the staggered starts for each cat as well and the varying number of flat laps the A riders tend to catch many of the other racers during the big climb. Enter the race join our team cruzbike discord channel and lets see where everyone ends up during the main climb.

@ratz can we post a permanent link to the discord channel or would that be a bad idea on a public forum?

Nice, I have a work thing this morning but if I can manage to kick my client out in time I'll be in the C group. Good luck!

Mountain Goat A category race report.

I thought if I warmed up on the mountain route that after the 4 laps it would automatically place me back on the Mt route and make the two left hand turns for me,WRONG. It was a nice strong pace for the 4 flat laps among our group of 6 but it seemed everyone was just poking at the group not quite showing their hand just yet. At the end two of the riders sprinted off and I suspected they weren't planning to continue up the mountain but I used the confusion to open a small 3 second gap over the 4 riders behind me.

I was still planing to oversee the left hand turn selection but right as the second left was approaching Thomas Horan gave me the all too decisive big blue ride on thumbs up. As I was trying to be a nice guy and give him a ride on back I missed my chance to select the left turn by a slip second. My mouse was driving across the screen but alas it was too late by what had to have been just a couple tenths of a second. I quickly made a U-turn but it was done too soon I rode strait passed the turn again. I made sure to wait a bit longer this time before making the U-turn and then made the correct left and got back on course. In real life I would have been pissed, but this is a game so I was going to make the best of it and I was determined to make up as much of the 36 second lead I had just handed the group. There was 5 of us left but someone was already off the back behind me even after my missed turn so that left only 3 riders ahead. I was quickly closing Jim McQuaide as he was already falling off the lead two of Thomas and Bruce Bird(aka Blue Bird because of his blue jersey). As I got within 5 second of Jim he picked it up and we both started catching Bruce who had given up hope of staying with Thomas who was still holding his 30 second gap over me. I passed both Jim and Bruce for second place but now it was a battle for 2nd with Jim who made it clear he wasn't prepared to throw in the towel just yet. He stuck to my wheel like glue while I focused on the time gap to Thomas which was still about 30 seconds. Eventually Jim fell off my wheel but not before giving me a ride on, good sportsmanship I must say.

I was now over half way up the climb and the gap was down to 20 seconds between Thomas and myself. It didn't look like I'd catch him but that wasn't the goal, I just wanted to get as close as possible and make him earn it. We were holding a solid 4.5-5.0 most of the way up so the closest I managed to get was 18 seconds back. We were flying passed many of the other riders in the B, C & D categories and I received a few ride on's from them but I was so focused I didn't return many of them, sorry. With less than 2 mins to go it was clear I was on pace for a new Epic KOM PR so even through I was 15-20 seconds back with no chance of victory I pushed on for a new PR of 21:08. Sure I took second place which is never a bad result but today after my mistake and how well I handled it I really did feel like a winner. It's hard to believe this only costs us $10 a month.

Congrats to all who raced and I'll be looking forward to the next one.

Spotted you on our warm up but I'll admit I was more focused on the World Superbike race I was watching at the time. I never spotted you during the race so ether you didn't make it or you were too fast for me to catch.

I was going to film it for you ; but each time you would go from warm up; to event module; and then race; it would lose you so I gave up. Tacking didn't like that funky start format

Congrats man, fun write up! Ya I joined you for some of the warm up. I ended up with 13th place, which I was happy with for my 1st Zwift race, I don't remember seeing you at all during the race. Fun times!

just started 10 mins after me but finished in 1:04:00 to my 1:24:00 so you were still 10 mins ahead of me. I guess we only catch the riders from the other group who totally blow up. I did pass quite a few B's and C's though so you dropped a lot of riders in your race. No one wants to race in the A's, we only had 5 riders finish compared to 23 in the C's and 18 in the B's.

I also noticed 5 of the top finishers in C were overqualified for the category, but whatever, it's still fun. Looking forward to the next one!

No I'm well aware of how it works. I'm laughing because in one the live broadcast KISS races earlier this week Nathan was going down the B or C class results and it like this "and the winner was......oh wait, he gets an upgrade and he gets an upgrade and he gets an upgrade and he gets an upgrade and he gets an upgrade and he gets an upgrade and he gets an upgrade and he gets an upgrade and he gets an upgrade and everybody gets an upgrade"

One nice thing about being in the A's is you never have to worry about going over the limit unless you cheating or indeed a top level race which then it just a case of getting ZADA approval.

We can then have a private Cruzbike event where we offset all the Watt/kg by 15% to account for the recumbent effect.

We can have a near private event if we use the zwift hack to ride one of the other courses on an off calendar day. Good luck getting everyone to use the hack though especially the IOS users.
