    Knee Issues?

How different is the S40 from the V20? On my S40 I am always in carparks and pedestrian places, going through gates and barriers. No knee problems. I think the leg bends sideways at the hip. I have 130 cranks. I climb slowly, but I get there, with 51t cog and 38t chainwheel. I can go...

*SOLD* S40 in the UK… New baby forced sale

Me too. I have somehow survived commuting in NE London for eight years. You want to have your hands as if you are holding beer tankards by the handles. I have Crononero with the ends up. Those barriers with the narrow bit are a nuisance.

    Peeing

So the famous Morciglio Cruzbike has two water bottles. One full, one empty. At the end of the race the water has mysteriously moved from one to the other.

Riding a V20 in the rain?

Rear mudguards needs to be long. My S40 was shooting water at the back of my neck. Like a pressure-washer. Standard mudguards is too short. Front one needs to protrude under the BB or it will be completely caked.

    Peeing

When you are climbing, the lowest part is your head, so the water goes there. Do not know why that occurred to me.

    S40 newbie questions

I got lots of wheel-spin in the early days, but it stopped happening. Almost completely. Recently I was defeated by some steep gravel. You may eventually make it up your driveway but if not, it will be the only place you cannot manage. It took me ages and miles to get my Silvio adjusted...

    Electric Silvio

Expect the unexpected. Did you know that the axle was too wide before you started? This is turning out to be one of the great Cruzbike modification projects.

To chamois, or not to chamois, that is the question

Worse than getting one in the eye.

    V20 for "everyday" riding?

I am in Ilford, northeast of this great city, and have a S40.

    Q45 vs S40

Is this gravelly enough for you? Internal width of my rims is 22mm and I have 38mm Gravel King. No rain here for weeks, so the ground is very bumpy and rock-hard. I was leaning forward and going slowly and it was fine. Who is this Katy person? Apparently she likes gravel. So she should get...

    Upgrade drive train

Worth it! No double chainwheel! Awful things. My Silvio was the first Cruzbike to have XX1. Now on the S40 I have Shimano 12sp. I wanted short cranks but they do not fit the Shimano chainwheel, so I am using an old-style XX1 11sp chainwheel. This works, despite what the internet says. And...

Larry's Century World Record attempt of June 12, 2022

Cruz Merckx does it again. Is anybody surprised? He is a phenomenon. He has one of these fancy jockey-wheels. I bet that made a huge difference.

    Alchemy?

My Silvio was excellent for this, as is my S40. They cannot carry as much as the Grasshopper can, but I do not think the Q45 can either

A recumbent rider's feet are ideally positioned for this.

Compressionless housing from Jagwire - huge difference

Okay, so I admit I am a fred. I do not route my cables through the frame or under the tape. I do not have tape. I have Hy-rd and Jagwire. I fixed the cable to the frame with a cable tie. The cable was slightly sagging on either side of the cable tie. Eventually the vertebrae on either side...

    Variable seat angle for climbing?

What I like about that red bike is the way you can move the seat forward or back. Lots of holes in the frame to which to bolt it.

Electronic Shifting and Replacing Brifters on the v20

I agree with @JOSEPHWEISSERT. I made a bar-end friction shifter and it is brilliant.

    Chain Plates Breaking ????

I use candlewax. The internet says that candlewax is too brittle and cracks and flakes off, so when I melted it I mixed in a bottle of vaseline. The first time you do it you have to get all the lubricant off the drivetrain. This is a pain, but you only have to do it once. When the chain...

    Uphill starts

Been there done that. Bike is an attension-seeker. Always plays up for the crowd. Get into a low gear. While you are braking. Easier said than done. If you do not have brifters you will wish you had. You will really wish you had hub gears. Leaning forward helps. How close to your chest...
