    oval chainring

With the @TransAm one you are stuck with one angle. Mine has 5 possible angles.

    V20c for sale <sigh> - SOLD

Blimey, that is a lot of vertebrae. What made that happen? Has anybody made a joke about a brass neck yet?

    Cruzbike C.G. or Weight Distribution

Steep tarmac, yes. Flat gravel, yes. Steep gravel, no. As I found out yesterday. But I did not throw it in the hedge.

    First ride - questions

Do you think about your pedal technique when you are on your Vision? On a Cruzbike, if you push hard when the pedal is sticking up, you apply a turning moment to the steering axis. If you push down when the pedal is pointing forward, no turning moment. I was experiencing unwanted pedal steer...

    Mixing it

Even when I was 20 and had a pair of lungs and a 1950s Claude Butler with a racing cassette and I was overtaking everyone on the streets of London. The fastest I have been on a Cruzbike is 45 mph. I do not think I ever beat that on the Grasshopper. Nerves of steel? They are all too stoned to...

    S40 in the fleet

Is the S40 longer than the Silvio2? I cannot feel any difference. Still as agile.

    Pinion gearbox

The Rohloff on my Grasshopper works. Year after year. Many miles in mud and snow and salt on the road. I read somewhere on the internet about someone's Shimano hub going wrong. Rohloff does not do this. Huge money, but worth it. But if you get a IGH, be worried about getting the wheel on...

    V20 for "everyday" riding?

Reading this and the other posts makes me happy. I do not mean to be nasty to anyone. I replaced my Silvio with a S40, I cannot remember why. About the same time, I started taking medicine that almost completely suppresses the symptoms of my COPD. Full of hope, I attacked the nearest...

MBB on a diet (9 kilograms)

If your bike frame is steel, you can replace the joints with hinges and then add this gadget. How do you you make a Cruzbike articulate? The bars in the second video are marginally better, but do not try them with a bar-end shifter if you do not want a bruise. But this is getting off the subject.

MBB on a diet (9 kilograms)

He has to wind the handle an awful lot for not much movement. It would be better if it was quicker. The handlebars are no good for commuting. Unless they are really wide they trap his legs, even in the low BB position. Tight turns are impossible. I tried bars like this.

    knees and hills

My knees are a bit dodgy, but the cycling does not effect them. Fortunate, because I would badly miss cycling. I cannot walk very far, but that matters less to me. @LarryOz is right. Cycling is knee-friendly if you make it so. The blue cog of @McWheels looks so cool.

    knees and hills

34/42 is a high gear. My chainring is 38 and my biggest cog is 51. With that cog, the same ratio as 34/42 requires a 48 ring. If my sums are correct. If you try my bike it will seem ridiculous. Your legs will be going like nobody's businesses and the bike will be hardly moving. But then...

Shimano MTN rear derailleur on S30

I think the chain is too long. And 36t is not big. Bar-end shifters are good.

2022 Vendetta V20c with carbon fiber front end

Do not even think about it! Silvio had carbon stays. I never got to find out about their longevity.

    knees and hills

My cranks are 130mm. Going from 175 to 130 may be a bit extreme. But if you have never had a 'bent before, the bike will seem so weird that you will not notice the weirdness of short cranks. Suspension does not help traction. Wide tyres do. I had a Silvio which had a Kind air-shock at the...

    knees and hills

I concur with all the above. Get it adjusted right. This will take a lot of pissing about, but is worth it. This is the Cruzbike experience. Spin, no mash. Small chainring, big cog. These 12sp cogs have enormous range. Short cranks, but these are hard to find at the moment. The advantage...

2022 Vendetta V20c with carbon fiber front end

Gotcha! I thought I was quite the acrobat on my S40 but I cannot manage that. Is it easier on a V? I think I need more practice. After all the miles of commuting on the S40 and its predecessor!

    oval chainring

This is so cool. Since the lube wars were won by wax we have needed something else about which to argue. And this is a three-way argument. Do you prefer the Biopace or conventional orientation? Or is the whole thing daft? How long can we keep this up? Anyway, everybody prefers a different...

    oval chainring

The long axis is 72 degrees clockwise of the crank arm. This is the most comfortable orientation for me. I think it is almost the same as Biopace, where the highest gear is at the dead spot. I think I would like to make a finer adjustment to the orientation and I think I want a longer thinner...

    New Carbon Fibre build

I agree. Mine is rougher than yours and mine was made in a factory. This is a revival of the old conversion-kit idea. I also would like to see how you got the drive wheel on.
