Does Cycling Cause Brittle Bones? Is a recumbent worse?

I heard professional cycling exercise physiologists recommend a few sets of 100 repititions per set (about two minutes per set) on a leg sled with body weight plus 20 pounds, once or twice per week at most, is enough to prevent age-related osteoporosis. It burns like hell and will make your...

    Vendetta Progression

Well, I'm guessing that offering only one Vendetta frame product at a time has the cheapest production cost. These frames are probably produced in batches. If they want to be able to provide you with an unpainted frame, they would now have to purchase two different types of frames from their...

    Vendetta Progression

I had my frame sandblasted and powder coated matte black. I love the new color. The original was red. It worked out beautifully.

Chain WAXing (yes it's that easy) - and other mysteries of this art!

It seems like I remember the cooked-in wax being important since the inside of the chain needs lubrication also. Especially if you use something to remove the pre-existing, petroleum-based lube by soaking it in some type of solvent. Where's Rats when you need him?

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

So you are not far off of the ideal setting (by what I'm defining as ideal - others may disagree). Although, you still have room for experimentation. That is, you could move your point of tangency a little farther, by about three teeth, by adjusting your chainring relative to your crank arm.

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Your cog, for that picture, is approximately in the middle of your cassette. With that same crank arm angle, you could compare the chainring's point of tangency for two other cogs: your smallest (fewest teeth) and your largest (most teeth). The smallest cog should make the point of tangency...

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Can you post a similar picture of the crank arm and chainring, but one where your right leg would be at its maximum extension in its stroke? (That is, when your right leg would be almost straight.) Where is the chain starting to touch the chainring then? Is it at the point on the chainring...

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

I think I understand what you're saying. By "dead spot", you must mean when the force vectors of both feet are parallel to the line of the crank arms, which in effect means pushing with either leg can produce no torque. Gravity and consequential leverage should nearly balance due to both feet...

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Here's a simple solution I found. Adjust the anglar position of the chain ring so that the ring's radius (at the chain's tangent point) is the smallest when the crank arm is in the position where your leg would be fully extended. Fully extended means the leg will be at the end of its normal...

    Building new V20 dream bike.

Another ride that starts in Montague and goes east across Michigan from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron for about 150 miles is the annual ODRAM (One Day Ride Across Michigan) on August 12, 2017. It's a blast and is well organized. They will bring your bike back on a truck for you while you ride a...

New to CruzBike and considering a purchase of the V20 frameset

I'm roughly your height and x-seam. I use 150 mm crank arms and love them. I, personally, will never go longer than 150 mm again.
