    First Silvio Ride

Walter White was my winter training partner for quite a while. But then he died of a gunshot wound. :( So now, Saul Goodman is taking Heisenberg's place. Better call Saul! I think I'll ride with Michael Scott after that - he should last until spring. That's what she said!

Am I reading that correctly? Did Larry just stomp on everyone?

    Bikeism Sucks

Unfortunately, the way this race operates, I can't think of how they would allow a recumbent class even if they wanted to. But if they did, they would also have to buy a sign that says, "DFs only!" for the water fountain.

    Bikeism Sucks

I used to race in a local, weekly race on a racetrack for many years on a DF. It was a blast. I haven't raced there for a few years. I was thinking of going back and racing on my V, so I looked at the rules posted on the website. There was no mention of restrictions on frame type. I was...

Your time is nothing to sneeze at. It is very respectable.

    v20 and v2

Jon, I get the same reaction from kids a lot: "cool bike!" They are still open to new ideas.

Latex Larry and the case of blown out tire

Does anyone else have good or bad experience with latex tubes? I wanted to switch over from butyl, but not if they're going to blow out unexpectedly multiple times. Anyone?

    Off topic: mechanical doping

The N24HC is not going to differentiate by bike frame this year. That means we recumbents will be competing directly against uprights. Feathers will be ruffled.

Did you finally get those robot legs? I'm jealous!

    First ride

Like everyone else says, practice is important. I had a huge, black bruise for a long time on my left hip and leg from not enough practicing and three resulting crashes on the same bruise. Add bruising to the list to be avoided. That's in addition to my left elbow skin that got ripped off three...

    First ride

That's a lot of blood on that parking lot. Are you feeling okay? How about a bandaid? Or maybe a blood transfusion?

    Cruzbike "Swing Trainer"?

The joist itself can easily hold your weight no matter how big you are. The problem you will run into is that the back and forth motion will eventally widen the threaded hole (assuming you screw an eye screw into the joist) and then your eye screw will pull out, due to your body weight, causing...

    Off topic: mechanical doping

So it seems there are three types of cheating: 1) illegally increase the human power output (e.g., EPO) 2) submit false data (e.g., lie, cheat on Strava, take shortcuts in a race) 3) utilize power from other sources (ride a motorcycle)

And don't forget the body armor - unless you're made of indestructible material such as titanium or Tarzanium or Oslundium.

    New Vendetta picked up!

Just to add to the confusion, I've used the Speedplay X2 pedals for many years. I've even rebuilt them after much abuse. This year, I replaced the stainless spindles with 3rd-party titanium spindles to drop some rotating pedal mass. And I bought some rubber covers for the cleats (on the shoes)...

    Crank length

It was only out of tune for the one ride. Then I tuned it correctly and had no more problems. By "out of tune", I mean that the elliptical chain rings (position) were not adjusted correctly in relation to the crank arms.

    Crank length

Yes, there are two pictures of the bike and its cranks in this post: http://cruzbike.com/forum/threads/vendetta-winterizing.9193/#post-116095

    Crank length

Regarding any effect from elliptical rings, the experience that convinced me (that there is an effect from the elliptical rings) was when I rode with 150mm cranks and with the elliptical rings slightly out of tune. When I got home and got off the bike, I went up the stairs and it was as if I had...
