    Must Start to finish

I use A520 on my Silvio 1.0 (for over a year now) - very similar to the A600 but 2/3 the price. Reviews for both pedals mention the "upside down" issue, but it has not been a problem for me for two reasons. (1) they loosen up after some use. (2) In recumbents, you have a good view of the pedal...

    Silvio 2.2 frameset build questions

I was going to suggest he is too damn tall, but Bob's suggestion is better. -Dan

SOLD Silvio S30 - $2500 - Sun City West, AZ

I know I have tried that in the past, with mixed results as I recall. Since the alert only gives hits a few times a week, perfecting it is kind of low priority, but thanks! -Dan

SOLD Silvio S30 - $2500 - Sun City West, AZ

Google alert for "cruzbike site:craigslist.org/bik/" does the same thing for me. The only downside is it also reports "santa cruz bike" results, but that's what the Delete key is for. -Dan

    Theft / tamper alarm

I looked at a couple of other devices like this one. One of them specified a maximum operating temperature of 75F and 85F (!) max for storage. Not useful in Arizona where 75F gets to be a distant memory for five months a year. I looked at specs on a few other alarms but no temperature ranges...

    First ride

SAME!! Very enlightening experience - I was half a mile from home before I could control my old RWD again after Cruzbiking. Now I can hop back and forth between FWD and RWD recumbents without a hitch. My body must have learned adaptability somewhere along the line, but at first it was important...

Quest - eBay, no reserve - Free ground shipping to continental U.S.

I remain puzzled by the philosophy of not even pumping up the tires to take a for sale pic. What are sellers trying to communicate? I wonder if there is a school of thought that suggests sellers should deflate a good tire to indicate - uh - what, exactly? -Dan

Not a Cruzbike TTRIKE - $500 - The Acreage, Palm Beach county, FL

I expect to live almost long enough to see homophonic spelling (a phrase I have never seen elsewhere, so I claim it hereby) generally accepted if not actually standard. I think it all started with the switch from print newspapers to TV news. Only readers can tell the difference. -Dan

    Stripped Clamp Thread

I live walking distance from a Performance Bikes store, so I picked up a Forte clamp for $5 instead of waiting for Amazon to send me the Origin8. It's a perfect fit. Thanks everybody for all the help and insight. -Dan

    Stripped Clamp Thread

The 34.9 mm version of this, I assume? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002MKJTA8/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me= It's inexpensive enough I can afford to be wrong, and I could even try a QR version. The magic words I was looking for were "seat post clamp." I should have known Tolhurst...

    Stripped Clamp Thread

I had actually considered hose clamps, but this looks better. -Dan

    Stripped Clamp Thread

Love the idea of not disassembling, but I think the thread depth would be precarious, especially in aluminum. I would bow to anyone's experience though. -Dan

    Stripped Clamp Thread

Silvio 1.0 pivot clamp threads are gone. Things to try: 1. Longer bolt with nut and nylon washer (attempt to compensate for slope) - no modification to clamp (FAIL) Result: bent bolt (stainless!) and no clamping force anyway 1a. Longer bolt with nut and wedge washer (make/buy) 2...

    Looking to buy conversion kit

Do you want it attached to a bike, or do you want to roll your own? I still ride mine, but I have too many bikes in general. I should let my learner Cruzbike teach somebody else. I'm in Tucson AZ and I'm not interested in yanking the kit off my functioning bike. -Dan

me, my Cruz Bike Quest and a selfie Stick

I am on my second Cruzbike with over two happy years' experience on them, and I still can't ride like that on either one unless I am geared really low at barely above walking speed, and... oh, wait. -Dan

    Haters going to hate

Crap like this used to come up at EVERY mention of Cruzbike on BROL as recently as a couple years ago. I originally got into Cruzbikes largely to see what all the shouting was about (and have an informed opinion instead of just an opinion). Around the time I decided that the nay-sayers were...

    Silvio 1.0 for sale

The pic in the OP shows the 1.0 in all its glory, welded frame, relatively upright (and fixed) seat angle, straight boom, and all. Somewhere there is a post that details all the differences, or you can visually compare to the newest versions on the website. Mine has the 100mm chain stay...

    Headrest for Softrider?

Why? Softrider seats are pretty upright already. For that matter, so is the Silvio 1.0 and any Quest. Since the original seat ends at mid-back, any seat-mounted headrest is going to be a long and spindly affair unless you build in serious triangulation. In my experience, necks strengthen up...
