    Silvio 1.0 vs 1.5?

There are two things I have learned about headrests (neckrests actually, by the way). 1. I have found my neck learns to hold itself up with very little practice. I experimented with a bike with adjustable recline where I would drop it down a notch and my neck would get tired. I would install a...

    Silvio 1.0 vs 1.5?

For me the low reclines are all about getting the weight off my butt and onto my shoulders. Makes high mileage days much more comfortable. Hasn't this been a perfect weekend for New England? I want to get one more ride in today before the fog returns :) -Dan (in Maine instead of spontaneously...

    conversion kit - $300 w bike / $200 without - WRJ, VT

Ouch! Hardtail! Still tempting, though, to just sock away the kit for when the perfect donor shows up. -Dan

    Silvio 1.0 vs 1.5?

Bob, I'm about your size. You got me looking at my avatar pic, and man, are my feet ever high! Maybe that's why I've been feeling compelled to experiment with a chunk of foam at the angle of the seat to simulate more recline (moving my butt up and forward), but that is starting to feel like...

    Silvio 1.0 vs 1.5?

Unless you are very short, the straight boom of the 1.0 puts the bars very high. I'm 5' 9" and for my 1.0 I opted to keep the chainstay extension a previous owner had installed. Now I can see over the bar. The curved boom on the 1.5 would fit more people without resorting to the extensions. -Dan

    Silvio ready to roll

Silvio 1.0 used standard seat post clamp assemblies available at Vanilla Bike Shop down the street, but I had to learn that from Robert. -Dan

    Giro Air Attack Shield deal

Good deal, but they are down to yellow Medium only. I already own one, and if they had any Larges left, I would have picked up a spare. -Dan

Vendetta V20 for sale (Los Angeles CA)

It was probably Hal (telephd), who seems to have fingers in a lot of SoCal Cruzbike pies :) -Dan

    Looking to buy conversion kit

I have been riding a conversion for like three years now, even since acquiring my Silvio a year ago January, but in the same position (cheap entry into Cruzbiking) today, I would be looking at one of the used Sofriders or Quests that seem to show up on Craigslist every week. Even at their best...

    Ride South Recumbents

I plan to be in Jackson about a month from now, and I'll probably visit RideSouth. Thanks for the warning about Salesman Jim. (Just kidding. I have heard only good things about RideSouth. It's one of the reasons I want to see Jackson on my way east this summer.) -Dan

Chain WAXing (yes it's that easy) - and other mysteries of this art!

I appreciate everyone's input on this. My last thought on the subject: If I'm ever going to experiment with waxing, it will be on my Silvio rather than one of my RWD bikes (for, I think, obvious reasons). -Dan

Chain WAXing (yes it's that easy) - and other mysteries of this art!

I found the 2014 Velo News test - thanks for the hints, guys - and I took away two items: 1. They assume only a couple of hundred miles between waxings! Who am I gonna pay to do that? I'm neither racy nor tattoo-phobic enough to be working that hard myself. 2. A couple of squirt-on lubes...

My IP address was banned today

I couldn't reach the forums today due to IP ban, but before I got too excited I changed my ZenMate VPN location from USA to Hong Kong. Everything appears to work fine now. Someone must have been using ZenMate to do Evil Things. -Dan

    Transporting the Vendetta

My Silvio v1.0 fits transversely behind the front seats of my Previa minivan with the simple expedient of removing the rear wheel. The bike will go in longways too, but sideways I don't need to strap it in to keep it upright. It just rests between the front and second-row seats and is instantly...

    Wabbit ears

Your seat must be a lot wider than mine. I typically wear bright orange shirts, and once when I asked a guy if my bike flag was flying OK, he replied, "I don't know. I can't see anything past your shirt." -Dan
