At last, the first ride on my Silvio 2.0

unc99 and Ivan, I'm not sure unc99 and Ivan, I'm not sure of my accuracy but I measured my x-seam around 45" (I'm about 5'10"). The pedal reach feels good, but I will raise the headrest a bit. I do like the low bottom bracket for stops and starts. It's something that the Cruzbike design allows...

At last, the first ride on my Silvio 2.0

Thanks for checking Ivan, I Thanks for checking Ivan, I did put on the rim tape that Cruzbike kindly sent me! Also note that I have reshot the photo with a different lens to remove the distortion.

At last, the first ride on my Silvio 2.0

Going into my Silvio 2.0 build, I had no experience with bike building or even maintenance, so I was determined to take my build as slowly as possible. I also expected some issues to pop up, having ordered from the first production run of a new design. Despite this, I am pretty much done and...

Carbon Seats for the Silvio and Vendetta?

My thoughts on the seat on My thoughts on the seat on my Silvio 2.0: Others have written about this, but one disappointing aspect of the assembled bike is the fit of the fiberglass seat (which, incidentally, was advertised as carbon fiber when I ordered). The two parts of the seat (pan and...

Silvio 2.0 Journey, Build, and Ride Video

Ivan, I went from a DF to a Ivan, I went from a DF to a Sofrider so not quite what you're asking for, but there was a magic point a couple of weeks in (and after a few longer rides) where my arms just relaxed. After that the Sofrider was more comfortable than my DF for long rides, no question...

How big of a learning curve did the Vendetta take for you to get use to it??

FYI guys, it looks like Lee FYI guys, it looks like Lee sold his Vendetta, so any advice directed at him will probably go unheard: http://cruzbike.com/vendetta-2.0-shimano-components-sale-or-trade Or maybe it will just help out the next guy.

How big of a learning curve did the Vendetta take for you to get use to it??

My right leg constantly I'm a bit worried about this one after doing the initial fitting on my Silvio (with SRAM Rival). I will have to see if it's a real issue when riding the bike. Here's a suggestion for Cruzbike: in addition to the Cruzbike-branded rim-brake compatible wheels...

    First ride experience and questions

Rich, I am new to this stuff Rich, I am new to this stuff but I don't think your headset should have any detectable play at all. For information on the headset you might see Doug's blog post: http://cruzbike.com/mysteries-diatech-headset

How big of a learning curve did the Vendetta take for you to get use to it??

Thanks for the report Lee. Thanks for the report Lee. I'm thinking about trying SPD pedals soon (I have never clipped in to any bike before), and there are a bunch of options. Right now I'm thinking of Shimano A600, single sided with a supporting area around the clip. I am a little worried...

How big of a learning curve did the Vendetta take for you to get use to it??

In my experience it depends In my experience it depends on the ground slope. Flat ground or downward slope: easy to launch with the pedals (right foot on the right pedal, left foot on the ground). Upward slope: can be dodgy, even after a few years on the bike (my old Sofrider). It's important...

    First Impression- not so good

That's terrifying Eric! Glad That's terrifying Eric! Glad that you (seem to be) OK. I actually had a similar reaction to the seat back cushion when I unpacked it, somehow the foam shape and fabric stitching don't look quite as nice as I remember from my Sofrider. That said, I no longer...

Hi Lee, I personally don't Hi Lee, I personally don't think you should be falling like that! Keep your speed low and make sure you can get your feet down when things get wobbly. Are you clipped in?

Silvio 2.0 Journey, Build, and Ride Video

Ivan, here's a harebrained Ivan, here's a harebrained suggestion: a lower bottom bracket makes getting your feet up onto the pedals easier, and therefore should make learning easier. If you do get frustrated with the learning curve, try uninstalling your chainstay extension and learning that...

    Cruzbike Recommendation

Hi Rich, I believe a lower Hi Rich, I believe a lower bottom bracket is easier to learn on, so the Quest 451 with the matching shorter chainstay might actually be your best bet as a starting place, especially if it's for the whole family. (I have some experience from owning a Sofrider, and test...
