What I did Today to prepare for Sebring 2018

That is a real bummer Bob. (where am I gonna find another lead-out man!) You guys might consider: "Calvin's Challenge" in May - In Ohio so much closer for you. They have everything from Century to 24 hour. "Mid-Atlantic" in August - This is NC about 6 hours East of me. They also have everything...

    Newbie with build questions

Jesse - This matches mine, so I would say you a probably setup pretty nicely. Your feet might be higher than mine, but with that Thor seat you have your body is probably a little higher took, so feet and shoulders probably match up nicely too.

What I did Today to prepare for Sebring 2018

Yes - when you do not want to take in water, then the writing is on the wall. The key is to keep fueling and replenishing water from the beginning, then that will not likely happen. You are too kind. In reality I am just an old guy on a fast bike that trains pretty hard and fanatical. So, all...

MBB on a diet (9 kilograms)

I watched Marko's video where he compared power and speed with wheel covers and no wheel covers. Speed was within 0.1kph. Virtually similar numbers attributed to increased wheel weight making up for slight areo advantage. The thing that really stood out was his power. He was pushing 300 watts...

    Newbie with build questions

Welcome to the tribe! Answers: #1: Yes the Vendetta can accommodate both rim and disk brakes and you are even free to mix and match. When we did RAAM last year we ran a front disk and back rim. #2: Tires: I have ridden up to 28mm on my stock Vendetta. I am pretty sure you can use the S40 fork...

What I did Today to prepare for Sebring 2018

I rode a 4 1/2 hour workout today and watched the entire Sebring video from last year which worked out pretty good since the video is about 4:18 or so. It was an "endurance" ride averaging only .67 IT so certainly was not mimicking what I might "put-out" for a hard Century. Here is the...

What I did Today to prepare for Sebring 2018

I have not had much time with the new shoes, although I did not notice any problems. Mostly because I have been fighting a really sore spot on my big left toe and I did not want "add" something else to the mix. Right now I am just praying my toe will be OK for Sebring. I will bring the shoes for...

    best Handlebar

Here is also a reverse angle VIRB video showing me riding with them. Camera on end of boom pointing up to me. https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=IzaVRoaUTm4

    best Handlebar

Most do not prefer having so little "leverage" with their arms, but I ride with what I call my "stubby" handlebar. It is only wide enough for my hands to cover. I believe it is pretty aero.

Infinit 5 Hour Challenge Metric Century Race (Greenville SC)

Bill, From what I could see there were about 14 of them that just stayed in a tight paceline the entire time. :) Yeah, I was working pretty hard too - avg pulse of 163 for 2 1/2 hours. Gary, I was riding the yellow RAAM vendetta with my stubby bars.

    CdA vs Power

For me and from testing the wider the hip angle the more power can be made. Same athlete, same fitness. (I did a ton of testing between a V20 and S30). I ride an V20 now. Put me on an S40 and I will generate more power with same effort. Probably about 50watts. Great for going up hills faster...

    Knee issue - need suggestions

It has been my experience that either too much knee bend on the back stoke (need shorter cranks), or you foot is turned too much in or out at the pedals (power pedals will report that angle) are the leading cause of knee pain. Oh yeah - then there is just pedaling too darn slow "all the time" -...

How best to determine crank length?

That is the way I see it and have tested it. That is why you can make more power easier on a Silvio compared to a Vendetta (at least I can). Of course you do not have the aero.

Infinit 5 Hour Challenge Metric Century Race (Greenville SC)

I rode 9 laps of the pretty twisty curvy course in just under 2 hours 30 minutes. It was mid 50's F, totally overcast and some pretty good wind and gusts too. (Made riding full discs full of excitement at times) There were about 120 people riding so really tight in some places. (They...

Anyone run tubeless tires on converted rims?

They are great tires - just get some tubeless rims, then you will be almost flat proof - they are worth it in my book!

Anyone run tubeless tires on converted rims?

Dido: only put tubeless tires on tubeless rims - if you do, just do not exceed 8mph when riding.
