Your Max Speed on a Cruzbike

Wow, that brings back memories! My younger brother bought a Puch 10sp way back in the late 1970's...and I could get it to shimmy like that. It was too tall for me and the frame was really flexy. I don't remember how fast you had to be going (no speedo) but at the right speed, a quick bump and it...

Your Max Speed on a Cruzbike

You guys scare the cr*p outta me. I saw 35mph a week ago and had to buy new bar tape as I'd squeezed all the lizard outta the skins. However, I think I can grunt that one up to 40 without trying too hard. There are very few suitable hills in my 'normal' riding area. Lots of "steep" but...

Report from Chattooga Century, Summerville, GA. USA

No idea about the ride filling up, I haven't ridden it since about 2005. I have no clue where I'll 'average', but probably a safe guess would be 15-18mph. I haven't had the V20 past 35mi yet (I haven't completed 5 rides total yet). Still getting used to her...and still trying to get my riding...

Report from Chattooga Century, Summerville, GA. USA

Well done, nice report! I'm not ready for a century yet...but will do the "mostly flat" metric here Sept 17 (at least, that's my plan). http://www.springcity.org/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=515233&module_id=155603

S30 water bottle mounts and handlebar

Oh crap. I'm 18" at the shoulders. My thumbs hang about 19" apart. That's 48cm (which is 2cm bigger than their biggest size). I doubt the new S30 bars will be available in 52cm width! However, I fit nicely in the stock V20 bars...so maybe there's hope! :)

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Hmmm. I have a good stock wine bottles (all full) but cannot access them until I meet my goal weight. :) As an engineer (and former rigger of airplanes which use cables to hold their wings together, etc.), I would have to reply that cables do indeed stretch. However, in this case I think you're...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Got my Ventisit pad in last night. Stripped off the 'stock' pads, cleaned the seat with alcohol and applied the ventisit. Looks good and feels good...gotta get out and ride! I also spent some time tinkering with the shifty bits. Adding the curved slider meant I needed to take a click or two on...

    V20 a reward of rewards

Thanks! Next goal is just another 25lbs. Current estimate is for mid October. Achieving that goal changes the experience considerably. There are three levels ("phases") used by the clinic for this 'lifestyle reprogramming': "Active Phase" is where you consume nothing but liquids. For us, that...

    V20 a reward of rewards

WOOHOO!! 100 LBS LOST! I have "officially" earned my "reward". I have tomorrow afternoon off...might get some miles in on the "reward". :)

    Uh oh...V20 back in stock!

I still suspect that, as JeremyS recommended, I will eventually have to go to a 'standard' chain-stay. I doubt I'll ever flip the curve over. Probably in a month, I'll think about removing headset shims, etc. Once the headset is 'slammed', that top tube is going to be nearly level. Right now it...

    Uh oh...V20 back in stock!

Mmmmmmm...Currrvy...:D Perfect. Took all of what, 5 min to install? Big difference in getting out of the cockpit! Zooop, and I'm sittin' up.

    BBB 2016

Da "Flats" would be pretty cool. Probably go for one of the standard hotels though. The Alluvian looks like something Miz Diane would appreciate...maybe I can talk her into driving! ;)

So...the 2017 ride will be Aug 5, 2017? Any recommendations for a hotel?

Pretty cool for a hot ride! I'm penciling it into the schedule for next year. Mo' cruz!

    Slow Ride

Yah, I decided to go with the RFLKT because it was relatively cheap...and I hoped I could actually read the damn thing. At the moment, it appears to be working reasonably well for my average Sunday ride...and it is very readable. Since it is simply reflecting phone GPS data, it is a tad on the...

    Slow Ride

Weird ride this morning. One of those times where I kept wondering if I should have stayed home...I felt a little 'out of sync' with the bike. I received my Wahoo RFLKT bike computer, HR monitor and Cadence unit...got 'em all mounted last night and prepped. The RFLKT was a PITA to get working...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Installed basic black wire bottle-cage under RH side of seat (standard holes). Inserted zippered bottle-bag toolkit. Done. Toolkit contains: Park multi-tool, CO2 filler (and extra cartridge), tire levers, self-adhesive patches and one xtra master-link.

    Take-aways from Portland retreat

Those "designshine" lights are made right here in Nawth Alabama (about 10 mi across town). They're evidently small-batch...always 'out of stock'. Everytime I've seen the website with "in-stock", I've been on a gov't computer where I can't purchase anything. I went home at lunch just to buy...
