    Weight Distribution

Kind of depends on the rider. I think that measurement was done with Jim on the bike if I remember - he is tall, so more upper body closer to the rear, but also light in the legs compared to some of us hammock style guys... so YMMV I think.

    Weight Distribution

The front wheel is doing a lot of heavy lifting on a Cruzbike - more than an upright or other RWD recumbent - laying down power, turning while doing so, and taking more weight. so a bit earlier wear would be expected. Like a FWD car tires.

    S40 - Gen 5 vs Gen 6 vs... Questions

The only changes between those production runs was components and colors. We were able to go back to SRAM (after having SRAM OEM on backorder for nearly three years) on the last run and of ourselves three different color choices. The main frame on from remain unchanged between those.

    Balance! Newbie

    1. More relaxing and less focus on the "push/pull/steer" thing. Just relax and gentile leverage forward with both hands - no white knuckle grip or pulling needed. Smooth on the pedals. Being in the right gear helps. Low gear for starting from a dead stop if you aren't "Flintstone roll" starting...

    S40 or Q45?

Possibly. Part of the challenge here (for Gates brand at least) is that to use the Gates drive - the frame has to be "approved" by Gates - so that's something we have to consider. Also other things would need to change with the front end - specific areas would have to be re-designed and...

    1st time Forum member - new S40 build - 1st time rider - terrified !!!!

The main thing IMHO is: try to not focus so much on thinking of the process of riding - just relax and gentle pressure forward on the bars and you will be surprised how quickly the learning will mesh in your head. Before long you will be practicing some no-hands riding. Not a practical skill...

Insta360 Camera in "Following Mode" with Invisible Selfie Stick

Is the speed stat embedded from the camera itself?

    Test of Insta360's "InstaFrame" Mode

Very nice. I have been interested in this exact camera and seeing these vids now I am really really really thinking about getting one.

Tandem recumbent + Cruzbike front end = all-wheel drive?

Even IF this were possible - it will not make the slow and plodding feeling any better. You would have to cut off the entire front end at the head tube - rendering the bike ruined before even trying the experiment. That is also a 20" wheel fork on the stock bike, so changing that to a taller...

    S40 or Q45?

Jeff, Definitely no belt drive. Not as long as I have a say in it. They have more resistance and are overall less efficient than a chain for the average riders wattage - and I have always said when belts start to show up on race bikes with efficiency greater than a good chain - then...maybe. I...

    Convert Q45 to ebike

We definitely do not have any S40 frames that are QR still around. It has been a good handful of years since we sold through those. Robert

    Climbing

I have found crank length to be really personal and also dependent on the bike - no matter what the numbers say for gearing, etc. You really can only know for sure if one length works better than another via some trail and error. For me - I love 150's for all things climbing and otherwise - but...

    Convert Q45 to ebike

Trust me - the "standards" that are more and more rapidly evolving nowadays - as we get more and more into higher tech materials/processes - is really maddening to me as a product manager. Because the second something becomes the "new normal" there is already new stuff on the horizon that seeks...

    Convert Q45 to ebike

The swap to through axles is a bicycle industry wide change not just for us. It is becoming near impossible for decent hubs to be found in QR and it is near impossible to find even one new bike made in the upright world that is QR when browsing what is coming from the shows overseas. So as such...

Results of installing a Viscoset headset in an S40

Yes press fit. I just remove with a brass pipe/blunt instrument but inserting a headset press is best to not damage the head tube or cups.

Results of installing a Viscoset headset in an S40

The stock lower cup only has 2mm of "cup" that sits outside the frame - basically just a flange - this headset was/is to keep the front end as low as possible. The lower Hellbender Viscoset looks to have a cup that sits 7.5mm of cup outside the head tube - the bearing sits inside but the actual...

Results of installing a Viscoset headset in an S40

I am not 100% sure on the status of the newer Viscosets from Cane Creek - or which ones are available non-OEM to the consumer market as for a time they were only supplying to OEM. There is the "Hellbender 70" version that could technically work in the lower V20c bearing race, but I have not...

    Free hub

I am not 100% sure what model free hub the Chosen wheels are compatible with, or if those parts are even available from Chosen. Are they saying you need a new wheel entirely or they can replace to a different hub?
