Impressions After 200 miles on a Vendetta

It is nicer seeing the back of someone's seat than seeing their lycra-clad bum (or butt) with a racing saddle stuck up it.

Battle of the Brands - Bike Sebring 2020

Are pizzas better than energy-bars or bananas? They are if you are cultivating a fairing-belly.

Battle of the Brands - Bike Sebring 2020

Man, I wish I was going. Just to see Maria flying past the Bacchettas, handing out pizzas as she goes.

    Recumbent Barspin by Kirt Voreis

When that recumbent barstard went up that hill of sand he was coasting. He coasted all the way up. It is just a question of getting enough speed in the run-up. If you put a motor on that bike, it would be an E-bike-E.

Battle of the Brands - Bike Sebring 2020

Cough, bough, through, although, enough. The ends of those are all spelled the same, but they sound different. English confuses us, let alone the foreigners.

Battle of the Brands - Bike Sebring 2020

No point in me going to Sebring without getting a lung-transplant first.

    Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme

Makes LEL and PBP look like going to the shops.

Battle of the Brands - Bike Sebring 2020

Should be easy for Cruzbike for most of the way. A Vendetta can draft behind a Bacchetta. Because Bacchetta SUCKS!

Shimano has patented a bicycle gearbox

For the MTB racers, the only advantage this has over a Rohloff is the weight-distribution. From the Cruzbike point of view, you want the BB to be as light as possible. For everyone else, the weight-distribution matters less. This has a twist-grip, same as Rohloff. Those MTB people hate the...

Pelso Brevet review / comparison to vendetta.

I only have two bikes. I would not know where to put any more. Lightweight.

Assault on the Carolinas Ride: No recumbents allowed?

Long history of bent riders causing DF riders to not win.

Why can't I sell a two wheeled recumbent?

Yes. It keeps me (almost) sane.

Has any recumbent rider tried Taiwan KOM challenge?

WRONG WAY ROUND, NUMBNUTS! They can shuttle me downhill if they can catch me.

Disqualified for getting Russian assistance? I am not talking about drafting behind Balor.

Assault on the Carolinas Ride: No recumbents allowed?

They are blethering about safety? Again? Those who have gone over the handlebars are disqualified from talking about safety.

Why can't I sell a two wheeled recumbent?

Trikes are all very well for racing or touring, but in town they are too wide. I would miss the ability to go through the pedestrian barriers and underpasses. Same with a velo. Trike would be nice, but if I must chose, it must be two wheels.

Pelso Brevet review / comparison to vendetta.

I like my Silvio because of the famous "whole body" experience. I miss this when I am on the Grasshopper. I do most of my miles in town, in traffic or among pedestrians, and this is when the difference in steering is most noticeable. I keep the Grasshopper because it has the Radical Banana...

There is a lot about USA politics in the British media, but I missed that. Nancy Pelosi manufactures recumbent bikes. Wow!

Assault on the Carolinas Ride: No recumbents allowed?

If I started at the back there would be absolutely no chance of me intermingling. Or winning a prize. Suppose there was a race in which 'bents were not allowed, and about 100 of them turned up and did it anyway, like Critical Mass. That would be cool.

What is your lowest gear on your S40 build

On my Silvio2 I have 38 t ring and 42t cog. Twice recently the hill where I regularly use this ratio got rained on. I got a bit of spin but I reached the top. I think I am like Tired Pedaler. When I first got the bike, wheelspin used to be so bad I did not want to stop. On the way home from...
