Spring Time - Learning To Ride Time

I have a tendency to ride knock-kneed. I eventually learnt not to do this when riding the Grasshopper, but on the Silvio I keep having to remember not to do it. If I can change my habit on one bike, I can change my habit on another bike. It just takes mileage.

Do you push or do you pull?

The way to high cadence is through the use of short cranks.

Where's all the junk? Another picture that puts my shed to shame. I think the Iron Chicken is hiding somewhere in my shed, perfectly camouflaged. And yes, you should make it impossible to open that door.

Do you push or do you pull?

A small amount of both, with slightly more pulling. Anyway, I agree with Larry. High cadence is good. The moment the bike starts to steer left, you are pushing it right. Subdue the bike by confusing it. Also, try to push down on the pedal when it is pointing forward. This produces no...

    Sensor(y) overload!

Going through the park when the rain has just stopped. That is a good one. Approaching a red traffic light that goes green just at the right moment. Good. Downhill at 40mph and overtaking the cars. Dangerous, but earbleedingly good. What do the drivers think? I used to commute on the A12...

If you want a DF as a comparison, a mountain-bike is the wrong variety. You need a track-bike. Ride the mountain-bike to the track, and then ride back on my Grasshopper. I can do that, if I get free flight from Stanstead, accommodation, food and bike-transport.

Spring Time - Learning To Ride Time

I realized this: If you are on a Cruzbike and you turn it the centre of gravity moves sideways. A 'bent veteran will not be used to this. The centre of gravity of a RWD 'bent stays in the bike's plane of symmetry.

    anybody there

My Silvio took ages to reach me. Glad I waited. I ordered my Grasshopper before they started manufacturing them. Good things take time. You can go to the shop and get a new Chinese mountain-bike and ride it home.

    Silvio

What ratz and hoyden said. We do not regret buying our bikes and wobbling around the car parks and failing to get away from a standing start in traffic and having everybody looking at us. They do not get time to look at us now, because we go by so fast. You will attain this happy state.

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Blinding performance, Mr Perez! You weren't riding your motorbike, by any chance?

    Minneapolis Silvio

Getting Continental on and off my Grasshopper's rims is an unutterably horrible experience. I have Vittoria on the Silvio and they are a bit weird. A tyre retains its shape when not on the wheel. Almost a torus. Vittoria does not do this. When not on the wheel it assumes the shape of a...

    Minneapolis Silvio

I agree with hoyden. I was commuting on my Silvio very soon after I assembled it. The road seemed terribly bumpy, and I kept getting pinch flats. I stood holding the bike and threw my weight on the handlebars. The shock did not compress at all. Took some air out. Nowadays I can lean on it...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Snilard is a randonneur. I think Southend is a long ride.

    Slow Ride

I am in the "some idiots" category. I commute on my Silvio. On the Silvio I am getting better at that. Almost as good as the Grasshopper. Maybe I will be one day. On one ride years ago both my brake cables snapped.
