IMHO the V20c does not need a viscoset headset - it is buttery smooth without - and tracks straight enough to be started frame. dead stop with no hands with platform pedals by an experienced rider.
Gotcha! I thought I was quite the acrobat on my S40 but I cannot manage that. Is it easier on a V? I think I need more practice. After all the miles of commuting on the S40 and its predecessor!

This new V20c seems to be priced for the new owner, much as my current 2018 V20 was when I bought it new. I almost feel like waiting until a major failure of the current bike, like a crashed frame or big fatigue crack, before I think about a new V20c. Still killing the speed on flat rides with the older V20 and the only major problem is my lousy rim brakes, but that is acceptable on flat terrain. Also the new V20c has switched to disc brakes which is fantastic but "requires" investment in new high end wheels if I am buying the frameset only. Actually I want to watch the fatigue life of the carbon components play out over a few years. Load and fatigue testing on diamond carbon bike frames validate the layup and manufacturing process. Have not seen how this design was validated for life-cycle loads yet and this is a whole new material design (without any carbon fiber heritage designs at Cruzbike).

Do not even think about it!

Silvio had carbon stays. I never got to find out about their longevity.

The only fatigue failures on a bike I've experienced were a front derailleur hanger through-crack on a diamond frame and the front stay of the 2018 V20 where it is welded near the BB . The new threaded wheel hub stem should greatly strengthen/stiffen the front triangle (tetrahedron) on the V20c.

Luckily I had the Dutch reseller order me a white one anyway :D (Ordering to Germany and we don't have many resellers in Europe, but in case of any situation it is better to have at least an European seller, not an American one.)

BTW its gold, not yellow :p

Curious.. how much are they thru the Dutch reseller after tax?

I was tempted but I won't buy until Larry has put his thoughts on paper about it in detail.

Climbing ability,

Drag aero capability...

And whatever.

The invoice states 7300€ + 100€ for shipping from the dealer to me. Includes 21%tax it seemes, while Germany only has 19%, should be a difference if 120€.
Would have been cheaper to just order directly from Cruzbike, I guess, but then it's problematic if something is wrong and I have to claim warrenty from an American company, shipping there for maybe a small repair that can be done on this continent.

For the $1000 difference you could justify a trip to USA. Bring an old bike with you so you’ll be returning with a bike.

1000$ covers neither the cost of tickets and accomodation, nor the time and hassle, nor the added ecological demage from flying a 90kg person that far. Not one of those factors, especially not all three together.

I logged on 5 minutes after the site opened and the gold & red were sold out already. I didn't want white so I guess I'll have to wait until Sept.
I am guessing there may have been only 2 or 3 gold and red bikes - hard to know since that number was never disclosed. Chances are Cruzbike paid extra to fly them to the US just to have something to sell to the Tribe before the fall.

I was thinking along that line too Larry. How many bikes did they have to start with?
It's easy to say they sold out so quickly if there were only half a dozen at the start.
When I went online the gold color I wanted was already gone. I pondered this for a minute before deciding to get the red model which was still available. When I added it to my cart a message popped up saying it was sold out too.
I then decided I wasn't going to pay this much for a bike and not get the color I wanted.

Didn't they say, those were shipped with the big shipment of I think Q45? I'd guess, either the space that was left in the container or the amount that was already built and shippable at the time.

Lol. I was not paying rhis much for a color / was not gonna pay this much to wait half a year for a color. I told my dealer anyone would be fine, I just preferred white. (I'm not a flashy guy who wants to be noticed other than for sefaty on the road and those colors don't fit the neon patches on my cycling clothes XD.)

look at it this way... At least you arent looking to buy a new Mustang Mach E.. My boss has one on order with no ship date in sight. ;)

I hope the V20c's went to good homes.
I'll be interested to hear ride reports from the lucky owners.
And I still have my red Vendetta to play with in the meantime.

I spied on the Cruzbike blog a close-up of the boom holding the bottom bracket.
T47_BB_shell_with_Token_BB_480x480.jpg
The new T47 bottom bracket means I can no longer use my short (152mm) square taper triple crank (used as a double). I'm not sold yet on 1x drivetrains, so currently I get the low gearing by running a 26t small front chainring with a 11-32 cassette. This works surprisingly well in combination with a 50t large chainring, and SRAM Red 22 shifters.
One of the few short cranks that seems readily available that might work is the Rotor ALDHU crank, which comes in 150mm and 155mm crankarm length options, and offers a 46/30 chainring option. With that, I would need a 11-36 or 11-39 cassette to get gearing that is equivalent to what I currently have. Or I could get a 1x drivetrain with a 10-52 cassette.

The 2x options tend to be a bit heavier than 1x unless I get away with SRAM Red shifters and an ultralight 11-32 cassette, and a really small front chainring, but that would require converting a triple crank into a double, and modifying the crankarms to be shorter. Finding a suitable crank that is not square taper, and suitable chainrings, so far seems challenging, which is why the Rotor crank seems so far one of the best options for what I want.
Another contender might be the cranks from White Industries with the 30mm spindle. They offer a wide range of chainrings down to 24 teeth, but the arms would need to be shortened.

Did any of you already consider this, and what short crank/low gearing option would you get for the V20c ?

I am currently using 1*12, 52:11-52 in my velomobile. On a bike that is lighter and does not reach the same top speed, I would be fine with the same or even 10-52, as you say, with maybe a slightly smaller chainring for even better climbing.
