yes. just give me a little time.

one advantage to mbb fwd is the proximity to the wheel that you cannot have in rwd, (look at rob's black bike and the distance the bb has to be to accommodate the chainring and crank). but one issue is the sheer amount of tubing to do an effective front end, and then something that doesn't stick up in the air, and that doesn't have a ton of tiller.

cb has a fixed seat and marco runs a fixed front end. so does JM. this is one of the benefits of cb over full customs. but the advantage of a full custom is the ability to firm up the front end thru fixed tube and stays.
if you go back and look at warren's work, you also see some innovation that was carried into his carbon bikes.

dropping down over a front 700c is a factor for the long legged. short legs will have trouble making the distance and then turning will also be a new set of issues. the distance between the front axle/the bottom of the head tube and back to the seat back is important in low speed handling.

the other thing about customs is the height from the seat pan to the bb. speedy aero guys tend to go 8" and more above, slow torque comes where the bb is at pan height and ease of ride come best when bb is below with a more upright rear seat. CB can move that up and down some.

the trick with steel is also some of the flex and some of the weight. which is why we see the carbon.

the cb fram in alum does a lot of great things wiht the hydroforming.

but, i have some ideas. i just need to brush up on my skills, which are quite rusty...

the world needs a guy making these in Renyolds or Columbus. maybe even with pretty lugs. maybe i am that guy.

I have a few other types i want to do. all i need is a little time.

Same here. I can't wait to see it the finished product too. I'll only follow it from here though since I have a history of getting waist deep in the mud and getting everyone dirty. I still have a BROL account, but I haven't logged in for many months now because of all the pettiness and childishness on it. What a terrible waste of energy. As a matter of fact I am off today and will play golf tomorrow, so I will go out for a ride today dreaming of the bikes being built instead of reviving an old thread there just to watch them lose their minds haha.

Sometimes people do not make sense to me - myself included - therefore, I am going to go ride - in the basement, staring at a little screen and bullying my body around an imaginary world with some awesome friends I have never seen or met in real life but talk to almost every week.

i make no effort to understand people - my self included - therefore I am going to go ride - outside, staring at the wide open spaces and bullying my body around in a cold world without those awesome friends I have never seen or met in real life but talk to almost every week on a little screen.

and start planning the Michigan ride retreat for this year..... (let the constant shameless plugs begin...)

Michigan ride retreat? I'm interested...

Very cool. My Mom and Dad started the Lindy Freeze back in the late 70’s when I was a Sr in HS. They also owned the Shell station on 231/74 across from the Holiday Inn in Crawfordsville. Small world

Bad day Monday...

1. I turned 50-something (instead of just plain old 50)
2. I got a steel splinter stuck in my cornea grinding on my seat stays (I had it taken out at urgent care yesterday, after I couldn’t get it to flush out on my own)
3. I messed up the RH seat stay; ground too much
4. No one has any bike tubing in stock anywhere - no new seat stays available (Doh!)
5. I had to change my rear dropout design to salvage the seat stays I do have; it will now be a bolt-on dropout, similar to my mid-racer design.
6. Had to order threaded bungs to make the bolt-on dropouts work

So, I’m taking a couple days off from bike building.
Think I’ll just go ride around Zwift instead...

I dont' know . . . sounds like a few days filled with bike stuff. As the saying goes, the worst day of golf is better than the best day at the office!

Hope the eye heals . . . and the tubing arrives.

Maybe I'll see you on Zwift. Leaving the office in a few and headed home for a trainer ride
