I dont' know . . . sounds like a few days filled with bike stuff. As the saying goes, the worst day of golf is better than the best day at the office!

Hope the eye heals . . . and the tubing arrives.

Maybe I'll see you on Zwift. Leaving the office in a few and headed home for a trainer ride

You do have a point there. I guess I just hate ‘lost’ bike time... (where I don’t really accomplish anything).

Figured out a way to salvage the seat stays using some aero tube I already had (just enough!). The rear dropout ‘stubs’ are a little longer and steeper angle than I had intended (and the aero tube is heavier than the tube I was going to use), but it will work.

Got this far and ran out of acetylene...

Cut too much off the tubes: disaster! Found some more tubes: success! Sounds like the sort of thing that happens to me. I must be a genius engineer.

Bad day Monday...

1. I turned 50-something (instead of just plain old 50)
2. I got a steel splinter stuck in my cornea grinding on my seat stays (I had it taken out at urgent care yesterday, after I couldn’t get it to flush out on my own)
3. I messed up the RH seat stay; ground too much
4. No one has any bike tubing in stock anywhere - no new seat stays available (Doh!)
5. I had to change my rear dropout design to salvage the seat stays I do have; it will now be a bolt-on dropout, similar to my mid-racer design.
6. Had to order threaded bungs to make the bolt-on dropouts work

So, I’m taking a couple days off from bike building.
Think I’ll just go ride around Zwift instead...

Got some iron fillings in my eye once, thoroughly stuck in there.
...went to the doctor who pulled a small magnet out of his drawer.
BINGO--- had it out in a second. Always keep one handy these days.
Thanks for all the Photos, great stuff.
Happy New Year Everyone
