I appreciate everyone's comments!
Looks like I'm getting a Thor seat and maybe the Dolphin tailbox...

As soon as I get the rendering from Greg, I'll post up some pics...

Blessings all!

This was the rendering that Greg sent back of a Thor seat and a Dolphin tailbox...

For some reason, I thought the tailbox was a bit smaller and would sit more horizontal...

Nope the thing is massive once you have it in your hands, although it does not weigh anything at all. It’s not in the same class as the CruzBike race case the dolphin case is more of a high end arrow dynamic touring case. The only reason I bought mine was because if I do a solo unsupported attempt at the HooDoo 500 I need someway to carry extra supplies. Even though I don’t have any way of mounting mine I can at least prop it up next to the bike and give you a better example tonight.

That would be awesome and appreciated!
I'm thinking I could form some kind of wedge between the bottom of the box and the seat, so that the top will be a bit more horizontal...

He says shipping will take a while, due to theis covid virus...

I obviously can’t move it into the correct position because of my water bottle holders, but generally speaking that is about the angle you would get. It’s not nearly as tipped down as in Greg’s rendering.

In that last pic, it looks like maybe the headrest could be mounted to the case lid instead of the seat. Then it would open easily.

You can't mount the headrest on such a short piece of carbon, it would fail over time. I put a surprising about on force into my headrest at certain points like sprinting or extremely steep climbs aka sprinting :lol

It looks fast just sitting there. It would almost be a shame to paint it and cover Greg's beautiful carbon.

Hi all,

For those of you who have a Thor seat, how happy are you with it?
Is there anything you don't like about it?
If you got the Carbon Fiber one, are you glad you spend the extra $$ for it or if you had it all to do over again, would you opt for a fiberglass seat?
Have any of you gotten and mounted the dolphin tail box? If so, what was your opinion?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm considering getting the seat and am thinking about getting the dolphin tail box...

Blessings,
DocS

Hi Docs,
I have created a separate thread for the Thor Dolpin tail box.

Thursday evening, I went out with a friend to get some miles in and as I was approaching a corner at about 20 mph, my front tire quickly deflated and I went down on my left side... Thankfully, my Vendetta was uninjured :)
I however left some skin on the road. Not much and it looked way worses when I was covered in blood. Got the new tube on and finished my ride :)

Saturday morning our riding group of Military Veterans rode from Comfort Texas to Kerrville Texas and back. It was only 40 miles, but was a hoot!
The 1st half of the ride, I rode in the back (my wife was driving the SAG vehicle and I wanted to be sure she was good with how it all worked). After the midpoint, I felt a little frisky in the hills and had some fun with the fast guys :) I passed them doing 45.4 MPH and was yelling, "Catch me boys"!!! They all gave chase, but failed to catch me as I saw them shrink in my mirror!!!
It was a fun hot and windy ride :)

We grilled burgers as a treat at the park and relaxed a bit before heading back home. I was able to maintain a 21MPH average speed for 40 miles.

Well all I can say is be careful at those speeds. Unless you have plenty of experience, your reactions must be way more subtle and careful than at normal 20-25 mph. I usually softly rigidize and make little moves. When I get hit by a strong side gust at those speeds I have tended to overreact, so now I try to blunt any handlebar motions going down a big hill. You also have to be real careful because most other cyclist have not seen someone coming up from behind on them as fast as we can. Sorry about the road rash.

I've ridden up to the mid 50s a few times before... It is always interesting to see where my mind wanders at those speeds... I usually start thinking of all the stuff that could go wrong... Then I try to relax and enjoy the ride :) The road we were on had 4 lanes in that hilly area and I was well away from the DF riders when I passed. I definitely didn't want one of them pulling out in front of me as I was approaching, that's why I yelled, "Whooooo Hoooo" as I was coming up on them :)

It's not to uncommon for me to be more in the mid to high 30s at some point during most of my rides. This was just a bit longer hill than most of the areas I'm in... Lot's of fun and a fantastic newly paved road.

I guess we all put some of ourselves in the stuff we love to do... I left some skin on the pavement. Not unlike my last Motorcycle Accident (I got hit by a truck, while doing 50 or so MPH).

I ordered and finally received some 60mm Carbon Fiber rims yesterday :) I got them mounted along with the new brake pads and will hopefully get to try them out this evening...
For all of you with a Vendetta who've switched from Aluminum rims to Carbon Fiber (around 60mm), have you noticed much speed advantages?

Blessings,
DocS

Hi Doc,

What I noticed most when I switched from aluminum to carbon fiber rims on my V was how much more durable they are. I was munching light weight aluminum rims somewhat regularly on road irregularities. I'm in my fifth year now with carbon wheels--similar weight and spoke count, and I haven't even needed to put them on a truing stand.

Hi Doc, your V is looking good.

Thanks for the reminder about the delay in shipping from Thor. Time to order my seat for the Silvio.
