THE NEW Q IS COMING

Thanks. Not a bad price with all of the improvements. Is the seat still the same? Not my favorite. I've not been able to get comfortable on q for long rides but enjoy short jaunts on it very much. Anyone done seat upgrade on quest?

Will the Q45 come with three chainstay length options as the Vendetta does???

It appears to be a reuse of the S40s chainstay based on the height of the front derailleur hanger provided in the pic. Not an issue for a 1x11 configuration, but may limit a 2x?? or 3x?? configuration due to the height of the hanger relative to the large chainring.

Where are people finding this pricing information? I checked my Junk folder and there's nothing there, either. I seem to have missed an e-mail?

If you got any of the emails, the links to the others should be at the bottom.

Only to the previous e-mails, not any future ones.

Last one I got has a picture of Lucia sitting on a floor with two bikes. I don't see anything about prices.

FOUND IT!
The previous ones came from "Cruzbike Inc." This one came from "Lucia at Cruzbike Inc." and somehow it went to the Junk folder. I had scanned down the list for anything beginning with the letter 'C' and overlooked it

Isn't technology fun.

The front of the Q45 is basically an S40 front end with a very long steer tube. That is needed to get the right clearance for the upright seat angle. It is extremely easy to ride and set with mountain type gear.

A triple will work "technically" on this front end - BUT - I have had very limited success getting a decent chain line due to various interference with the clamps and/or front DR pulley - so I will not make recommendations for people looking to do triples. The market is largely abandoning triples for 2x and 1x setups with wide cassettes anyway, so YMMV getting shifters, etc that will work.

Which leads to the next question in the game of twenty questions: could the new front end (chainstay, boom etc) fit a Q3 or QX100 as part of an upgrade kit?

This looks like a great bike, but I'm wondering about the gearing. Running the specs through Sheldon Brown's gear calculator yields a high of 86 inches and a low of 26 inches. My little 451 Quest with Dual drive has 106 and 20. I'm not as strong as I used to be, but I'd be hesitant about touring with the that gear range.

If you can balance below 26 gear inches then good luck to you. You'll be going really slowly. I run a SA-8Sp IGH, which gives me ~33 gear inches in 1st. It's a rare and steep incline that needs it; any lower I'd not be balanced and walking instead.

Theoretically I have a 30 x 28 low gear.

Realistically I have an absolutely pristine granny ring. A hamster I am not.

If you buy the Q45, swap the dual drive wheel with the Q45 wheel!

I asked CruzBike about using dual drive with S-40 and was told dual drive is not compatible with that front-end, might be different for Q45, who knows?

The Q45 has the same front fork and power triangle as the S40.
I do not know why it would not fit?
Is there an anti turning device on the Dual Drive axle?

Hub-based gearing like the dual-drive, Alfine, and Roloff requires a mechanism to prevent the axle from spinning. Here’s an example from my Bike Friday folding bike. The slotted axle is gripped by the tabbed washer.

The dropouts on the high end bikes may not have a large enough hole for the axle, and it surely won't have the flats for anti-twist washers. If there is a big enough axle hole, you could experiment with hose-clamp mounted torque arms. Like these examples. You would also need to make sure you could get the right size, or make your own.

Guess I'm one of the first 10... Just got the confirmation for the purchase... Picked Green/Blue....thought it was yellow from the pictures but I don't care what color it is as long as drivers see me... I'm looking out at a new foot of snow from last week and the temperatures have been in the single digits the last three nights... Might have to wait a little while for the maiden voyage.....Gary

I loaded the page 10 minutes before 11am, EST and saw there was some changes since last time I looked at the Q45 page.

New post on FaceBook said it was going live at that time, 11.

Here it is over 20 minutes after the hour and I'm confused. Did I just see the update early or did I miss something?

I clicked on the page several times this morning and then about 10:45AM it had updated to the current page.. Pressed the order button as quick as I could hoping to be one of the first 10... It Worked!!! Plus I ordered a new credit card a few weeks ago thinking I was going to buy this bike....they had a new card promotion if I charge $1,000 in the first 3 months I get a $200 credit.... I'm proud to say I'm cheap..... Gary

I picked gray, to match my hair color. Got the $300 credit and then spent $200 on accessories. Looking forward to delivery. Spring is on the way! Need to learn riding the Q45 by June to do Biking Across Kansas.
