The cables are too long-- they'll be cut after some more miles are in the bike and I'm sure I won't be adjusting the boom about.

I like your anti flop device. When I built the V20 I knew that people were saying the front is a pig to handle when off the bike, but I didn't realise it could masquerade as a wrecking ball and chain, tasked with random attempts to knock down all walls within a 3 foot radius :)

Thumbscrews used (important to keep rubber band from cutting on sharp edges):

I also put some edging on the Thor seat, primarily to protect it when leaning against stuff (I commute on the bike), but it also helps to prevent the rubber-band from being cut by the carbon-fiber seat edge.

Edging:

This edging is larger than it needs to be, and thus heavier than it needs to be, but I've not been worried about getting that detail perfect.

Do you use both bands or just one? And do you leave them attached even when you ride the bike?

One rubber band, but long enough (18" un-stretched) that it loops over the boom. I've also done it with two or three rubber bands, but that requires either zipties or boom disassembly to mount, or you end up with a wider knot down lower which wears out faster.

I leave it attached all the time. The rubber band isn't strong enough for me to notice it when riding (steering deflection isn't that big during normal riding)-- it mostly helps with moving the bike one-handed, to prevent the bike from falling down when parked (e.g. against a wall), and preventing boom-strike against the rest of the bike.

The rubber band has lasted for 600 miles without significant wear, so I expect it to keep on going for another 400-600 miles more. If you buy 'em in larger quantities, the cost is $5 per 1000 miles. Pretty cheap :)

Here is the GPS and horn mount. I described the modification I did to make this work in another thread.
I mount the GPS there as it is guaranteed to not get knocked about when I sit up (as I have plenty of stops and cars to contend with, I sit up many times each ride).

How did you braid the band? Looks like it wrapped within itself.

I took each end, twisted it 180 degrees, then put the end closer to me through the one farther (both 'ends' are loops since we've stretched the middle of the band over the boom). Repeat until happy with the result.

Detail on the seat mounting.
I still seem to be the only one doing it this way, which I find perplexing. Maybe these photos will help?

The first three here are a quick look at how the seat looks while mounted:

In this sequence, I install the bottom thermoplastic shim, then the top thermoplastic shim, then I show how the bottom of the seat fits.

If you pay close attention to the 6th or so photo, you can see the Perez clamp installed.
The top seat screw goes into the top hole of the Perez clamp.
This is the modified Perez clamp, where I drilled out the middle so bolts could pass through, and put the rod on the side.

How the seat-bag is mounted.
This is not as light of cool as the CF racecase, but it is easily removed for commuting, which is what this bike is for...
It doesn't require any bolting, strapping, etc. You just slide it on and you're done.
