I was going to start a new thread but I guess this belongs here
Title: A Zwifter I am not
So I finally set up my proof of concept before starting zwift after receiving a threaded rod to replace my front skewer (cheaper than the tandem DT Swiss RWS). I afix my bike in my cheap second hand dumb trainer (unfortunately all this father of twins can afford) and set up to look at the numbers (HR, Cadence, Speed, unfortunatly no power see above re twins
) on my garmin (I need a ant+ dongle, and a way to set up a PC outside away from sleeping babies if I am to set up zwift). I lasted less than 10 minutes and most of that was adjusting my new (non foot crushing) shoes to clip in.
I just can't keep up the motivation without the visceral reward of speed, add to the fact you lose everything on the dumb trainer as soon as you stop it is quite disheartening. Don't get me wrong I am a gamer and I am sure zwift would help with motivation but I don't think it will be enough. Yes a free spinning smart trainer would also help but that is not an option (if I had that kind of money I would put it to a power meter anyway). So I think I am bowing out of zwift before I begin. Not that I want to be a "boo-bird" you all have fun. I will take what rides I can get in the outdoors.
Also I am happy to be proven wrong if anybody has a Tacx Neo they are willing to offer a poor cycle depraved father on extended loan
