Dad gum, darn it! Wouldn't you know it. We are counting on our hero Jason to be out setting recumbent records so we can taunt the BROL'ers and he's out playing Donkey Kong or something!
But is he doing that WHILE riding fast on Zwift?????

The less I ride the slower I get and the slower I get the less I want to race in zwift because my ego can't take getting dropped so spectacularly. I'm caught in this ERG type death spiral of laziness and rationalization aka depression. I'm too fast ride with my friends outdoors but to slow to race with the big dogs in zwift, talk about first world problems

Oh you need to do stand up comedy. Hilarious. Erg type death spiral. Lol.

Get back on your mtb. Different bike every day. The mojo will come back. Couple weeks riding outside.

Heck it’s spring there. What events are coming up.

Rojo, the only way to get back to the speeds you expect is to get back out there and ride. I would suggest riding in some of the fast group social rides and maybe a fondo type ride or two. Those would give you a gauge without being in a race on Zwift. Plus @trplay might make a video of you ;)

I was going to start a new thread but I guess this belongs here
Title: A Zwifter I am not

So I finally set up my proof of concept before starting zwift after receiving a threaded rod to replace my front skewer (cheaper than the tandem DT Swiss RWS). I afix my bike in my cheap second hand dumb trainer (unfortunately all this father of twins can afford) and set up to look at the numbers (HR, Cadence, Speed, unfortunatly no power see above re twins:p) on my garmin (I need a ant+ dongle, and a way to set up a PC outside away from sleeping babies if I am to set up zwift). I lasted less than 10 minutes and most of that was adjusting my new (non foot crushing) shoes to clip in.
I just can't keep up the motivation without the visceral reward of speed, add to the fact you lose everything on the dumb trainer as soon as you stop it is quite disheartening. Don't get me wrong I am a gamer and I am sure zwift would help with motivation but I don't think it will be enough. Yes a free spinning smart trainer would also help but that is not an option (if I had that kind of money I would put it to a power meter anyway). So I think I am bowing out of zwift before I begin. Not that I want to be a "boo-bird" you all have fun. I will take what rides I can get in the outdoors.

Also I am happy to be proven wrong if anybody has a Tacx Neo they are willing to offer a poor cycle depraved father on extended loan :D

yes agree that dumb trainer and zwift dont play well together. a dumb trainer with a power meter is better since you can change up the load as u come to a hill. i just play on the flats and get the heart rate up. saving for a watteam power meter.... and a staczero smart... and a gtx1080 and vr and...v20..and .

The whole idea of zwift is to experience the simulation of the game, I see little point in using a non smart trainer with zwift so yeah your results are expected. My Neo has always be available for demo's as long as the person is willing to come pick it up from my house.

Thanks for the offer Jason but it may be a little far to go :D

He would have to walk/ride on walk right across the Pacific Ocean!! But that's not far for an AUSSY!!
I wonder if Cruzbike can make a version of this :D

Hey everyone.

Tonight (Thursday), there is a Hare and Hounds race at 7:35PM ET and a few minutes later for faster riders. A couple of us usually ride it as class D. We would be excited to see another rider or more join us!

This particular ride has staggered starting times based on your FTP. The slower riders start first then every few minutes later the next faster group starts until the fast A group is out there. The fun part is to try and get a few riders to work together in your group and keep ahead of everyone else.

This particular ride is weekly at this time. If you cannot make it tonight, try for next week! We usually have 2-3 riders working together each week.

Blue Buffalo and I took 2 & 3 only because you relaxed so that we were ahead of you at the end ;) I think if you tried, you could have stayed with Slaymeister. Lucky for us, you are a team player and ushered both of us around.

The Amgen Tour of California is about to start. Starting tomorrow in Zwift, there are 7 days of riding to give a taste of the tour. The events run every hour on the hour. If you complete 1 stage, you will unlock the outfit. Each day, a rider is randomly picked to get a real signed jersey.

I plan to find some time tomorrow to ride the first day. Still trying to decide if early AM or later in the day.

Go for it Josh. You will look good in a Amgen jersey.

Today’s ATOC Route was pretty easy; 3 flat loops. I saw Moose and I think CruzLike on discord, but likely finishing up the 7PM ride. I went at 8PM with a fair time (61:46).

Tomorrow’s ride is tougher as it heads into the mountains. The course tackles the epic KOM and radio tower. Sounds like a route for the light foots like Ms Moose!

Hi all
@ 7:35 edt there is the weekly Hare and Hound race. I plan to ride with the "C" group. I would like to invite any other East coast C's to join me. On Previous rides there has been a good "D" contingent that I (we) get to chase down. Come on out and play.

Think I might jump on and give the big A$$ mountain climb a shot since I haven't ridden in over a week and I'm without a rear wheel for my Trek. I believe you guys said it was around an hour to climb right?
