    Aligning steering?

Hello, Brett, If I were experiencing this, there are some things I would check. If you've done all this, I'll apologize in advance. On an inclined flat parking lot or surface (no crown), when coasting downhill, with feet off the pedals, does the bike still pull to the right? If coasting with...

Here's why pedal-steer is smaller than you think

I love to see a force/vector diagram when someone's doing an analysis like this. My faith in engineering science (as opposed to "SCIENCE") is preserved. Well done, BillyK.

Q559 - Remove Internally Geared Hub

I have many spare parts. Actually, I have a Quest V1 559 standard wheel. I'll trade you even for the IGH wheel. If you decide you don't like the non-IGH setup, then you can trade it back. No risk, eh?

Q559 - Remove Internally Geared Hub

Hello Rich, I see you are in Richmond, Va. I am in Glen Allen and have a Quest V1 non-IGH bike you are welcome to look at if you need hands-on information about changing drivetrains. I also have a couple of bikes I have switched over to 1x11 drivetrains (T50 and Sigma).

    Triple Crank on S30? Help

Hi David, The S30 uses a different bottom bracket arrangement. The S30 front chainstay assembly actually clamps around the external bearing shells of the required outboard bearing bottom bracket, where the Silvio V1.0 used the bottom bracket shell itself to secure the front chainstay. A...

    Wanted: QX100 (upper) seat

I should tell you that the seat back and base pressings for the QX100 are the same as those for the Conversion Kit, Sofrider, Quest, T50, and Sigma (you won't be finding Sigma parts.) Even the hole drilling is the same; they just differ in paint color. Any of those seats will solve your...

    USS cruzbike

Well, why not? It's pretty well turned-out; I always said there wasn't much of anything you couldn't build with a conversion kit. Looks like a third-generation conversion kit. I think the rake is pretty normal; typically to mount the conversion brackets you had to turn the fork around backwards...

    Into thy hands

I buy metric cap screws in bulk (though they'll sell you any quantity you want) from these folks: https://www.boltdepot.com/Metric_socket_cap.aspx I usually buy the typical sizes for bicycle work and keep them stocked. You may also be able to get something from Home Depot/Lowe's, but I find they...

    T50. "T" is for "tinker"

Thanks, fellas. That seat cover is a prototype; we learned some things in the making of it, and will make changes for my other seat pad, which is 3" thick with a half-inch minicell backing. It's a good thing she likes to help me, I couldn't afford to pay her! (Seriously, her quilts cost $350 -...

Anyone made their own seat cushion covers?

With my wife's help, I've made a prototype cover. The cushion is a 2-inch Power-on Cycling filter foam item, backed with 1/2 inch yoga mat. I first tried it with my 3-inch POC cushion with 1/2 inch minicell backing, but it was too thick and difficult to insert the cushion properly. I tore the...

    Used S1.0 pre-purchase questions

My x-seam and inseam are almost exactly the same as yours. I was working directly with Cruzbike when the S1.0 was introduced. I had to make a series of modifications to get proper fit and to get the drivetrain to work properly for my x-seam and height (5'6"). I can describe those for you if...

    Midsole cleat position

Dr. Bandito, Thanks for the detailed and illustrated response. Very kind of you to go to the trouble. I have peripheral neuropathy in my feet, so shoes and cleats are something I'd like to get right. Dunno if I can get there with my old Frogs - these shoes look like the ticket. "have been...

    Midsole cleat position

Dr. Bandito (respectfully - I tend to call all my really smart friends "Dr.") Could you share which model shoes you are using? You appear to be getting great results with your bikes, and I'm putting something together and would like to incorporate the wisdom of others. Best, Doug

Anyone made their own seat cushion covers?

Hello CB Braintrust, I have a Power-on Cycling fiberglass seat that I am adapting to a Cruzbike. It used to be installed on my old conversion RedBike built in the 2005-6 timeframe. It was exceptionally comfortable; I did my most successful MS150 on it years ago. I have two cushions for it...

    The Blue S40 Build

Hi Matt, welcome to the club. Remember, there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers, and we can provide them if needed! ;) Seriously, there are lots of threads in the forums written by folks doing what you're doing, and don't hesitate to ask; you will definitely get answers! Good luck...

Anyone fitted a TRP Spyke disk brake on the front of a Sofrider v3?

Here's a better photo... One thing you'll see here is the use of Avid adjustable caliper fasteners, which make setting the brakes up MUCH easier. They have convex and concave washer sets that allow the caliper to pivot as well as slide in and out on the mount to get the alignment precisely right.
