At last, the first ride on my Silvio 2.0

Today I completely failed at Today I completely failed at my first attempt to ride with new SPD pedals and shoes. I could not clip in reliably. I fiddled with the tension adjustment on the pedals until I seem to have stripped the head of one of the adjustment bolts, and worn down two hex keys...

    Vendetta or Silvio?

Ivan, do you know your Ivan, do you know your typical cadence? I've been told that it's hard to max out 53x11, at least on flat ground. I estimate that at 53x11 with a 90 RPM cadence, you would be going about 35 mph, which seems pretty fast to me.

    Silvio 2.0 Commute in Traffic

That's cool Ivan. Someday I'd That's cool Ivan. Someday I'd like to try my commute on my Silvio... Google is quoting me about 31 miles (or 50 kilometers) for a ~3 hour ride. Seems like they are assuming a pretty slow pace.

    Carrying a lock?

Elliot, I'll probably leave Elliot, I'll probably leave it as it is for now because: - In the first setup gravity wants to rotate the lock and mount downward against the wheel. In the second setup that isn't an issue. - In another thread Larry/BentBierz suggested that I put the...

    Carrying a lock?

Well Eric, I don't trust a Well Eric, I don't trust a cable to secure the bike in the city and I honestly don't see the mount and lock moving enough to be a problem -- short of a violent impact that would probably bring bigger problems than the lock moving. They're on there pretty tight and...

    Carrying a lock?

So, option #2 interferes with So, option #2 interferes with the headrest cover a bit but puts the lock much farther from the wheel. The lock and bracket would have to rotate sideways a whole lot to contact the wheel. It looks like the lock might be near my shoulders, but I sat on the...

    Carrying a lock?

As Elliot suggested, it is As Elliot suggested, it is possible to mount a U-lock to the headrest tube, although the tube is a few mm narrower than this Kryptonite FlexFrame bracket is supposed to fit: The lock is sticking out at an angle to clear the rear wheel. I am concerned that it...

Andrew, I guess this means Andrew, I guess this means you sorted out your cracked weld on the boom? The cover looks great! Very professional.

At last, the first ride on my Silvio 2.0

Today I rode through the Today I rode through the fairly busy urban areas of Davis Square, Somerville, and Harvard Square, Cambridge. I was forced to ride through a gravelly construction area in Harvard. The construction guys cheered me on! Finally I made it to the Charles River and cruised...

Just ordered a Silvio 2.0 frame

At the time I just took the At the time I just took the bolts with me to my local hardware store and bought something several mm shorter. Bolts are cheap and I figured some experimentation couldn't hurt. FYI, it looks like the bolts that I received with the frame (the ones that were too...

Just ordered a Silvio 2.0 frame

Butch, I assume that even Butch, I assume that even though the ring clamps did not tighten on the BB cups, the ring clamps themselves were tightened all the way, and there was no gap left in the side of the clamp? My ring clamp bolts were too long, and I could not tighten down the clamps all...

Silvio 2.0 Seat Angle and Rear Suspension

    Waiting is hard to do.

For what it's worth, my For what it's worth, my rubber tubing is still on there (small bands around the tubes, plus a larger band around the clamp area, with a slit for tightening the bolt). I thought it was to provide additional friction and/or prevent metal from grinding on metal. But, I...
