    Lytle Creek

I went out with a largish group this morning on a ride to Lytle Creek. I've reported on this ride before, so I won't bore with all the gory details, just the best stuff! :D From where we are in Redlands, this is a lot of gradual climbing. Even the ascent up to the village isn't a tough...

Hey, thanks a lot for visiting our forum. As much as I hate your guts for causing me to take several minutes of my life to remove the numerous copies of your SPAM posted, I realize this meant a tremendous amount of work for you, too. I can certainly appreciate the amount of effort that went...

Does the MBB invite to lower cadences?

That's part of getting used to the bike. It takes a little while, but faster cadence will come naturally pretty quick as you ride the bike more. Mark

    SF bay area (south bay)?

Yeah, yeah, yeah... That's it! You're in the bike and part of it! You nailed it! You sound just like me. I've been riding the Silvio for a year and a half, or thereabouts and it never gets old. While I "mastered" the bike right away, I am still finding little nuances where I am improving...

    SF bay area (south bay)?

To be honest, unless you've ridden a MBB FWD bike, you might not get around the block the first time. Buying into the Cruzbike in any way, shape or form is a bit of a leap of faith. You can hedge that bet by trying a bike, like you are attempting to, or buying/building a conversion to see if...

And there lies the real challenge, at least here in the States. Good luck and have fun! Keep us up to speed on your progress! Mark

    Front Shock Question

I'd almost bet money you're not putting enough air in the shock first of all and when you release the pump, you let what little air there is out. So, you're riding your front shock deflated. For the sake of argument, run it up to 190, then take the pump off and see if that makes a difference...

    Conversion kit

Hi Jeff, There have been some very succesful hardtail conversions, but the suspension bikes are plusher to ride and make it easier to maintain traction over less than ideal pavement. The front fork is reversed so that the steering geometry is not affected by the addition of the conversion...

    Another Conversion is born!

Looks real good, Bob. When you get a little more comfy on it, you might try bending that seatpost so you can lay the seat back a little. Maybe even scoot the seat back some and shorten up the TFT. Keep us posted! Mark

    swapping wheels

In theory, you could space it out, but then your axles would be too short. I suppose you could use longer axles and then space accordingly. Mark

Does the MBB invite to lower cadences?

I don't know, but all this thinking is making me a little gassy. STAND BACK!! :o  Mark

Does the MBB invite to lower cadences?

In my response, I said "mash", but what I really intended was low cadence spinning of a bigger gear than what you would typically use. I still pull all the way through the pedal stroke. I think overall, it's better to run higher cadence, but spinning a big gear goes a long way to building...

Does the MBB invite to lower cadences?

I run a moderately high cadence, but not ridiculous like a lot of bent riders support. I really don't know, my cadence sort of depends on my mood. Sometimes, I like to mash. I think there's room for both. Mashing helps develop strength and spinning helps develop your aerobic base. Mark

I believe THIS chain guard was fitted to a Silvio for racing purposes. Mark

    Bar End Shifters

The shifter for the front derailleur is friction only, but the rear derailleur (the important one) can be run in indexed OR friction mode. I like bar end shifters really well and yes, they can be easily managed on a Cruzbike. Mark

    Component advice requested

Hi Karen! Welcome to the forum! Why won't your current road bike's components work? Care to elaborate? Your choices look pretty decent. I prefer triple setups because I don't like shifting the front derailleur that much, but that seems to be just me. Mark
