    Personal Soundtrack

I was in my car yesterday and "Mama Said Knock You Out" came on the radio. I thought of this thread and realized that it would be a fun song to hear while chasing down DFs. Strong beat and it's all about beating the competition.

Hitting the road for a while

Training for sure is best. Picklejuice is a good backup for when you haven't trained as hard as perhaps you should have! :-)

Hitting the road for a while

This is my new favorite stuff for cramps. I tried it for the first time 40 miles into a century, pushing a lot harder than I normally do. I just bought some of these the night before. The recumbents started ahead of everyone, and around mile 30 the lead DF group caught up and so I joined...

    Garmin alternatives- Wahoo, anyone?

Rick, you could get Cyclemeter on your phone (I think it's $5) and have that track your rides and send them to Strava, then keep your Garmin but don't ever upload from it. That's what I do.

noob's initial observations of silvio 1.5

Yeah it's definitely nice having a lot of storage. It was tough to pare down to the essentials after having lots of storage for so long. I started with a 3-tennis ball can. Had to go up to a 4! haha.

noob's initial observations of silvio 1.5

I have a Silvio 1.5 - I had a rack on the back of it with a trunk bag for years. Worked great and had lots of storage, but recently I took it off and added an extra water bottle mount near the top/center of the seat. Now I use water bottles mounted to the seat and I put all my stuff (OK just...

    Silvio 1.0 v. S30

Here's a good page on the old Silvio: http://web.archive.org/web/20070210065909/http://www.cruzbike.com/silvio.html

    Silvio 1.0 v. S30

Or not. I've got a Vendetta 2.0, a Silvio 1.5, and an old Sofrider. I ride all of them. I choose my ride largely based on the speed of who I'm riding with. :) To the OP: I think the biggest difference you'll find between S30 and 1.0 (besides the fact that the S30 is much prettier) is the...

Boom ... was that an S30 that just passed you?

ETap is cool but pricey. I was thinking more like "small hole in the boom for the win".

Boom ... was that an S30 that just passed you?

I'll tell y'all what I'd like to see next - get those cables inside the boom again, like they were in the Yellow Vendetta days! Or even better - if it's possible - get the FD cable to go all the way down inside the boom and coming out at the bottom, instead of popping out above the forks with...

    S30 Seat Stability

Do you have some Velcro in there to hold the seat to the frame? If not, I think that will do it. That's how my Vendetta seat stays on.

    Bottom Bracket Suggestions?

I had to google to find out what a Star Nut was. I hope I don't have to go down that far.

    Bottom Bracket Suggestions?

Hmm, good idea, and it was something I hadn't checked yet, but they all seem tight and they all sing when I pluck them. I don't think it's a spoke. Oooh, that could be it! When I had it on the trainer and was spinning the pedals from the side, it did seem to be coming from that area. And...

    Bottom Bracket Suggestions?

Oh, while I had the chain off I noticed that ONE pulley spun great and the other was slow. So I removed the slow one, took it apart, cleaned it up, put it back together (used a little Hob-E-Lub graphite in there for a dry lubricant - it's really good stuff). Got that slow spinning pulley...

    Bottom Bracket Suggestions?

Well, I got the XD-15 installed on the V, and the V's old Ultegra bottom bracket moved to the Silvio. The XD-15 is very smooth and definitely spins easier than the Ultegra. I haven't taken it out for a 'real' ride yet, just a quick spin around the block to see how it felt. Felt good. Not...

Boom ... was that an S30 that just passed you?

The 4 year old front shock on my Silvio 1.5 is still working perfectly. I've never done anything to it other than put air in it and keep the cap on.

    Bottom Bracket Suggestions?

Funny - I thought something similar. Why is he trying to thread the chain through as he puts it together? Put the thing together and THEN thread the chain through! Sheesh!

    Bottom Bracket Suggestions?

I'm still waiting for my XD15 to arrive, so the chain is off on my Silvio - so after seeing this, I gave my pulleys a spin - my Ultegra pulleys actually spin freely pretty well. I'm keeping them!

    Bottom Bracket Suggestions?

OK, I made the purchase. Thanks for the video. I've already got my BB off the Silvio so I can't give you a spin count, but I did happen to spin it before I took it apart. My Ultegra BB spun better than the SRAM but not as well as the XD15. My Silvio and Vendetta have the same...
