    Did Some Climbing

Yes, I agree. Lots of people ride to avoid hills, but the stronger riders embrace the hills. Maybe it's a love/hate type thing, but you certainly don't see them shy away from them. That tells you a lot. Mark

    Silvio: Campagnolo Veloce/Comp Triple

That's what we've been talking about, brother! I can hear mine out there in the mancave, calling me to go for another ride. She doesn't care one bit how sore and tired I am, nor how hot it is outside. She just wants to go. And, just like a good woman, she GETS what she WANTS! Bike is...

    Did Some Climbing

Today's ride involved some climbing. We left out from the meeting spot and started right in on Sunset, a ride I've talked about in previous reports. I'm happy to say, I made it up to the top of this ride the easiest I have ever done it since coming back. I did not have to stop once to catch...

Great bags for Cruzbikes: FastBack Double Century

My bad, Jacks were Radical Bags. Here's the link: http://www.cruzbike.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=56&p=285#p285 Mark

Great bags for Cruzbikes: FastBack Double Century

I think if you go and look at the pictures Jack put up.... I think he uses the same bag and yes, he drilled a hole higher up. I know his hangs higher up on the seat. Mark

    Suspension fork ajustment

I'm not sure, Bill, so don't quote me on this. I think those forks pretty much are what they are. No adjustment. Mark

    Upgrading models to Sofrider V2

John, Are you going to build another run of SR V2s? :( Mark

Poll: What Tires RU Running and What Have U Tried?

I stuck with them because John T gave us a lesson in physics and told us there wasn't much difference in contact patch.. Instead of buying another set of tires, I started to play around with tire pressure and that seems to help. Admittedly, I haven't put them to the acid test, but I haven't...

    Silvio Weight

Gino, A lot depends on the gruppo and the wheelset you put on it. I think most guys are coming in ~25# range. My bike has pretty heavybuilt wheels and comes in around 28. It certainly doesn't feel or ride like a 28 poud bike, I was surprised. Mark

    Motorized Cruzbike

I would like for somebody to do this. Something has got to give in the transportation and I think this would be a good thing, in the long run. I've been saying this for years! Mark

Poll: What Tires RU Running and What Have U Tried?

You pretty much know my story; 700x25 Gatorskins, running 90# in the front and 110# in the run. It changed the handling slightly, but no speed drop-off and seems to grip better on climbs. Mark

    Whistling a Happy Tune

Rick, I never realized until you posted how much whistling/singing I do on rides. This last weekend, one of the ladies commented about her lack of need for an ipod with me along. That particular day, I had "slip sliding away" stuck in my head. On my morning commute today, I heard the...

Getting Going: Learning to Ride a Cruzbike in a Week

I've been enjoying it, too. I think being able to ride the bike and being able to ride it well are two different issues. Understanding how the body affects steering is paramount to making the bicycle do what you want. The hip thing was HUGE to me. When I first got on my bike I could not...

    Spinning the front wheel

Achievable? Yes, just don't stop!! I've had pretty good success reducing the front air pressure by 10-15 pounds. If you have wiggle room, you can increase the rear pressure to help offset the increased rolling resistance. Does the Sofrider have a air shock in the front like the Silvio, or is...

    I hate you guys..

Absolutely.... I loved tinkering and building my bike. I intend to continue tinkering with it, but I'm not so sure I want to ride that 40+ pound behemoth on a daily basis. I'm not to riding on a daily basis yet, so it's fine. Even if and or when I get a Sofrider, I'll keep messing with the...

If I did it just right, maybe my bike would whistle a happy tune for me!  Mark

    Commute to work

That's pretty cool. I've had people stop me on my other recumbents and ask questions. So far, none on the conversion, but I get lots of comments. Mark
