    The Cruzbike Body

In previous posts I have mentioned there is a difference between riding a Cruzbike and riding a Cruzbike well. I stand by that. On today's ride, I was thinking more about this and really, it's not much differnt from what they talk about getting "recumbent legs". With the Cruzbike, though...

Are you serious? Reading between the lines it says, "We're really not too interested in helping you, bub. Now, move along." Mark

    road bike?????

Now we're having fun inside the learning curve. Discouragement the first try leads to a twinkling of encouragement after the second try leads to the lightbulb coming on during the third (fourth or fifth) try. The mastery is in you, it's just a matter of bringing it out. Relax, pay attention...

    Riding with racers

"I rekord fart" meant so much more to me. ;) ;) Mark

    A little exposure...

That was too cool for school, Doug. It would have been my luck to wave at the camera and promptly run into a parking meter. That's how I roll. Mark

    Tom's Farm

I got the longest ride to date on the Silvio, a distance of just over 80 miles. It was a pretty good group going out and despite having a mixture of abilities, we maintained a strong pace with frequent regroups for the slower riders. There were a few hills mixed in and I am happy to say my...

    Right There...

In front of my face, it was. Jack's been saying over and over again to reverse the stem to get the handlebar closer. Wow! I switched my stem around and put the bar back on as I had it. Adjusted the angle, moved the bar ends a little and clamped it down. I also laxed up on the rear...

    Right There...

I'll tell you, I'm a lot happier with this bike... It's a blast to ride now. Yes, it's still heavy and yes, the suspension still makes weird noises. But dialing back the rear shock has made a huge improvement in this bike. The seat is lower, which increases the seat recline, points the nose...

    Sofrider/Willier Memorial Day Ride.

Yeah and I've really begun to worry about his avatar, too. Mark

    sofrider to silvio, worth it?

I would throw a huge "amen" out there. The truth is, everybody's needs, both real and perceived, are different. I think Hotdog and I are on the same page, more or less. It seems a lot of people are in utilitarian mode and in that sense, I think the Sofrider is probably the better bet. The...

    Taipei Cycle Show Display Bike

Mmmmm, bike poooooorn! That is one sweet looking bike. Looks a lot like mine, except don't look now, but I believe you are missing a few spokes. Looks like a chainring might be gone, as well. Everybody, please..... Take a look around and see if you can't turn up John's missing bike parts...

    More on Silvio Suspension Setup

This weekend, I decided to change up on my suspension setup. For Sunday's ride, I returned my front tire to full inflation and upped the fork pressure to 125#. The difference was pretty noticeable. The handling was faster and the wheel skip over rough surfaces discernable. Even on short...

    sofrider to silvio, worth it?

Yeah, Oregon and ducks, wow... And beavers, too! You guys got it going ON!! Yes, I'm sure there is a fender solution for the Silvio and I would assume I'll eventually get around to that. I'm pretty much a fair weather rider, anymore. Been there, done that on the hardcore scene. In...

    sofrider to silvio, worth it?

Absolutely your parts will work. The triple kind of depends on your x-seam. Us longer legged guys can get away with our triples. I've ridden in Oregon and I think the Silvio would be just ducky. OOH! Did I say that out loud?!!?  In western Oregon, I think your primary concern...

    silvio assembly

Yes, you need both. You want some space between the top ring and the top of the steer tube. That way, when you snug down the cap into the star nut, it pulls the aheadset together and where you get your adjustment. Once it's set, then you tighten down the two bolts in the stem thingy. Mark

    silvio assembly

Oh yeah, did you remove the stubby bit of aluminum tubing stuffed in the lower half of the headtube to protect it in shipment? There is also a parts diagram and assembly instructions available to download. They're not the greatest, but you can figure it out with them. Mark

    silvio assembly

I'd check to make sure your fork is seated properly.. Make sure the crown race is on right. As I recall, it all fit very neatly, no question about the second spacer being needed. OTOH, I've slept since I built mine... Mark

    Silvio Hydration and Mirror Solutions

Doug said "poopy"!   I like the bottle setup. I had envisioned something like this, except with a "t" connecting two bottles. I'm a heavy drinker! Bike looks good, Doug, except it's way too clean. I like the looks of that mirror, too bad it's "poopy". Mark

    Before you ride a cruzbike...

I know what you mean. After I posted that, I went back and reread John T's post about riding standing up. The word "helicopter" comes immediately to mind.   Mark

    Before you ride a cruzbike...

In thinking about this, I decided the best thing you could do to prepare yourself for Cruzbike riding is to ride your regular bike naked. This will do absolutely nothing to help your riding technique, but it will better prepare you for the inevitable pointing, staring, laughing and other...
