    What do I have, please?

Looks like a first-production-run Quest. The original double chainring has been replaced with an "e-ring" as designed by John. The rear seat stays have been beefed-up a bit (rarely, I've seen these fail.) The steering stem has been replaced with one with a longer reach - not a bad modification...

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

I am looking forward to receiving my frame. Mine will be a beach bike, since we bought a condo at Va. Beach, where I can ride without constant fear of being run over. The bike infrastructure is much better there than where I primarily live. I am hoarding parts now. Of course I never build...

    The Fred Thread

I embrace my Fredness; I've earned it. The key, as always, and as I know you know, is to have fun. I am at an interesting stage of life. Just because something is cool, doesn't mean I have to own it to appreciate it. I've stretched myself in my career for a long time; now I get to answer...

    I'm Back! Well..... Sorta.

Always good to see a member of the Old Guard. My current experiences mirror yours pretty closely. Now that we have a place at Va. Beach, where you can ride without constant fear of being rendered part of the pavement, I'm gonna start riding (and maybe building ) again...

Oops, I did it again... Introducing the Folding CruziTandem

Good onya for doing this. I looked at this frame a few years ago and decided I couldn't make it work for us. But you did it! Looks like fun!

    New cheap Cruzbike

Judging by the fork crown clearance over what looks to me to be 26 x 1.5 tires, I'd venture a very cautious "yes..." May be limited to 700 x 23c, though... Loads of room on the rear...

    New cheap Cruzbike

We started talking about this quite a while ago. I'm really glad to see them going forward with this, and it looks like some of the early design's compromises have been eliminated in favor of some very good engineering. I suspect I'll be an early retail customer. Huge potential here...

Suggestions for a new bike carrier

I have a Sportwing 4-bike carrier. Because it carries the bike by its wheels instead of its frame, it will carry anything, and it has a very wide range of width/wheelbase adjustment. The velcro securing straps hold everything very securely. I've carried every configuration of Cruzbike I have...

    QX100 or Sofrider 2

I like this bike very much. We just bought a condo at the beach and this looks like the beach bike I'm thinking about building. Big, fat tires, fenders and disks. The whole area is flat as a board, so the SR frame should work very well. Nice!

S30 fork components for free! (+shipping)

Ivan, it should fit the frame head tube ok. You might have to check the chainstay fit at the front skewer, since that arrangement has had some fiddling over time. A;so as you mention, some work with the hanger may be needed. But always get a fork if it comes up at a good price. The fork is the...

    Triple crankset on QX100

Probably the best approach. "Road" square-taper cranks sit further down on the BB axle (JIS taper) than "trekking" or MTB cranks. It can be itchy getting the BB axle length correct if you're working with different types of cranks. The objective being that for a triple, the center chainring...

    Triple crankset on QX100

I tried the 12-21 cassette on my Quest 1.0 - which in all important ways is identical to the QX100. Found that for me, I spent all my time shifting. Went back to the wider ratio cassette. I was using a 24-42-54 triple I built especially for this application, and I used an old SunTour derailleur...

    Stripped Clamp Thread

Check the hole size with a 13/46ths or 7/32nds drill bit. If either of those are a tight fit, you can tap to either 1/4-20 or 1/4-28 with confidence. https://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-information/US-Tap-Drill-Size.aspx

    Stripped Clamp Thread

As I remember, that's a 6mm bolt. You could tap it out to 1/4 inch (6.4mm) and used a high-strength 1/4 inch bolt... Might avoid disassembling everything that way.

    Seat Mod

Nice work, folks. I've never been a big fan of the seat; I need more shoulder area support. I also want to use one of these to move my hips and upper body forward on my S2.0 to reduce the distance between the steering axis and the grips, so I do a better job of going in a straight line. Your...

    vendetta evolution ideas

I'm not privy to those sorts of things these days. It would be a logical move since it would be one less unique part needed for the bike portfolio. On the other hand the additional rigidity is a differentiating feature...

Forks are a PITA to get manufactured. All fork manufacturing appears to be in China, and they frequently don't get it right. I've been doing manufacturing quality assurance in China since March 2012, and you really have to stand over them to get things made the way you want them. That's why I...

    Help with FD

You're looking at a 26 tooth spread there, pretty big for an FD, which typically maxes out at 22. There are some old SunTour front derailleurs that have very long cages and are usually available on Ebay. You might find this link useful...
