Finally got the new wheels and brakes. Went with 32-spoke front/28 rear, HY/RD calipers, 160 mm front rotor/140 rear, Conti GP5000 28mm tires. So far, so good.

I'm looking to put disc brakes on my S30v2 over the winter. I have SRAM Rival brifters. I'm considering the TRP Spyre mechanical disc brakes, would also look at the HY/RD. This is going to mean replacing my wheels, of course. I talked with someone at the CB Ride Retreat who was using Velocity...

I do have them. 530 mm, according to the fine print on the left bar end. The drop looks deeper than 93 mm, though, based on Slim's diagrams above. Maybe they're not the II version? Would still be happy to part with them, though.

I believe I still have the Origin 8 Gary II bars that came on the S1.5 I bought from @ReklinedRider. I'll look through my spare parts box tonight. Would be happy to work something out with @ChaleJake if she's interested.

Donuts are good. When I was putting my S30 together, I was having fits getting the front derailleur right. I offered to bring the LBS mechanic donuts and coffee one Saturday morning, before the shop got busy, if he would let me ask questions and watch him adjust both derailleurs. Worked out well.

Before you give up on this, check with Sam Patterson (if Robert didn't already). He put one of his cranksets on an older Hase Kettwiesel for me several years ago. The email I have from 2015 is samhpatterson at yahoo dot com.

This is the late-model S30, with the unsuspended fork. The seat angle is 33 degrees, rather than the 28 of the suspended S30. I have one. I recommend it.

I ride an older Q. I have the seat at 45 degrees. I don't think I'd want it any more upright. I can turn my head easily to check traffic from the side, and navigate in fairly tight spaces. Have you tried adjusting your Grasshopper's seat to its most upright setting and riding it like that for a...

I'll second that. I want to go to disc brakes on my S30, which will mean new wheels.

The stock seat and cushion on my old Q work fine for me on rides up to 20 miles or so. I have a Thor seat and Venti-sit on the S30. I like the ventilation from the Ventisit, as well as its not holding water. If I get caught in the rain, I don't feel like I'm riding on a wet sponge all the way home.
