    My next conversion

No, it's steel. It doesn't seem that heavy, though I suppose it is. I gotta find me some 650s. Mark

    My next conversion

Might on that frame, it's a pretty short wheelbase. It might get airborne on an asphalt patch! Mark

Glad you got it working. Did you get your other boom yet? Mark

    Mark's Silvio II Build

Thank you, Jack and Peder, you're very kind. I'm hoping to get in about 100 miles this weekend, including another beach ride with my Sunday breakfast group. If you remember, the return trip from the beach ride is where my original Silvio was injured. Time for some payback! Hey, if...

q-rings work great (except for shifting)

JonB, I don't know if you've seen it, or not, but there is a 26" wheel with Nuvinci hub for sale on BROL. Some discussion about the hub, as well. Mark

q-rings work great (except for shifting)

That's a great point, Reid. I wonder if he has the braze on widgit bolted to the right set of holes? That would make a huge difference. Mark

    My next conversion

This is the frame I was going to build up first. I thought it was too small at the time. I'll probably forego the seatpost arrangement and do seatback to rear brazeon braces, like on most recumbents. I may have to hacksaw the stub of the seat tube down just to get clearance for recline. At...

    My next conversion

OK, as promised, here are pictures of my next conversion. It's a kids Trek 24" wheeled mountain bike. It's pictured here with 700c wheels (without tires), which should approximate what it will look like with 650c wheels with tires. Compared to my Silvio Mark

    Mark's Silvio II Build

Finally got around to taking the pictures last night. I realized after taking these shots that the handlebar was rotated backwards too much. I corrected it afterwards. I bought this bar off e-bay; got the last one from my LBS. There was a difference in the bars, it seems. Here's the shot...

    The TOR conversion

If you're talking about the packing between the fork leg and the conversion plate, I used 1/4" rubber. It's OK, but not great. It compressed down too much and, perhaps not uniformly. I only have about half my brake pad grabbing the rim and I've never been able to get my shifting to index...

    The TOR conversion

No, I've tried various fixed mirrors on other bicycles and never been particularly satisfied with them. I prefer an eyeglass mounted mirror. No need to turn my head, just a flick of the eyes and I can see clearly what is behind me. I prefer the Take-A-Look mirror to the cheaper plastic ones...

    Considering new Silvio

Hi Lev and welcome. The thing you're going to find out is the hardshell seat translates to a tremendous power increase. Mesh seats are comfy and breathe well, but they feel mushy after you get used to a hardshell. The Silvio seat cradles you nicely; I think it's pretty much all day...

OK darn it, I ordered a set. Mark

    Darn Nice conversion crankset

What length cranks were you running before, Jack? Can you tell the difference in the shorter cranks?

    Mark's Silvio II Build

OK, I admit and apologize; I forgot to get out the camera last night. Actually, I had a lot on my plate being the last evening before the first day of school. So, it's getting close to dark and I finally get to breath a little. I decided to take it for a shakedown spin. It ran out...

    Commute to work

I almost talked myself out of riding to work today. In fact, I did talk myself out of riding to work today. I reset the alarm and rolled back over. As I lay there, I began thinking about it being the first day back to school for my girls. Then, I got to thinking about three teenage girls (my...

    Silvio Prototype I

That's a neat story. Thanks for taking the time to share! That original Silvio would, indeed, be a nice piece to have in any collection. Mark

    Mark's Silvio II Build

Coming tonight. I was too tired to break out the camera last night. It sure was nice to walk out into the garage this morning and there she was! I was sorely tempted to ride her to work this morning, but prefer to keep my shakedown rides shorter and closer to home. Not that I've ever had any...
