    They stole my Silvio

When I bought the S40 frame I forgot two optional extras. The headrest and the luggage rack. I discovered that the headrest would have been a waste of money. The stock headrest is nowhere near my head, but I do not need a headrest. No discomfort. No feeling that my head is about to fall off...

    Ferg's Q45

Very interesting. Was it hard to fit? Why does the front wheel not twist right round when you stand the bike up? Do you have some sort of flopstop that is invisible in these pictures? And I hate seeing bikes with such neat cabling.

Has anyone changed the cassette to increase gear range?

WHAT???? This cassette arms-race is doing my head in.

Great Fenders (Mudguards) for the S40

I put the back one on the front. This is enough coverage.

Great Fenders (Mudguards) for the S40

I got SKS Edge. Excellent. Very rigid. Strong and stable. A lot easier to fit mudguards on the S40 than the Silvio. Maybe because the wheels are 650b.

    100mm extension

Listen to the advice of the veterans. Loosen the bolts or you will squash the BB! Tighten the bolts or the BB will wander around! Confusing? At least in the latter case you do not have to replace the BB.

    They stole my Silvio

The Kind shock and the rubber thingy at the back both had really tiny travel, and the shock suffered from sticktion. For small bumps it did not deflect at all. I think my tyres have as much travel as the shock did, and tyres react to tiny bumps. To those who wish they had a Kind shock I will...

    They stole my Silvio

I have suddenly realised the answer to my own question. Obvious. S40 has no Kind shock and the carbon stays are now aluminium. Stiffer than the old one.

    100mm extension

Moving bottom bracket. Actually the BB moves slightly sideways and the chainring starts eating the stay. How do I know this?

    100mm extension

Is 13 an unlucky number? It is if you overtighten those bolts. On my Silvio the stays were a tight fit. Rubber mallet job.

Q559 - Remove Internally Geared Hub

You can have either Sram or Shimano. You need a hub that is compatible with whichever cassette you want. Most hub manufacturers make versions for all the different standards. You can get a hub or a complete wheel for whichever cassette you want. Then you need the rest of the drivetrain. You...

Interrupter (inline) brake levers on V20 tops?

I made handlebars for my Silvio and used MTB hydro brakes. Worked very well, but the hoses were a sight. The advantage of Bowden cables is that you can easily fit any levers you like. Try doing that with hydro. It took a long time to get the bars and levers how I wanted them. And a lot of...

    They stole my Silvio

My Silvio had a carbon seat. I think the S40 is a slightly different shape. This bike seems to have better acceleration than the last one. Is it because of the seat? I have 650b. Does that make a difference? It is only slightly smaller than 700c. I have 130mm cranks. I had 140mms before...

    New S40 build

What about going downhill? Did you need your top gear to be so high? Could you tolerate a lower top gear? If so, you could get a smaller chainwheel. I have a lot of experience with double chainwheels. Too much.

    New S40 build

You will think you have been conned. You will think that this is a specially created shill forum. You will be looking up the price of aluminium. You will be adjusting it all the time. Then it will start to work properly. Then you will know why we are all gushing about it. You will stop...

T50 on YouTube: Spring Equinox 200K

It was cold, but not cold enough. Frozen wet sand is rock-hard. Which is very bumpy, necessitating 650b and Gravel King.

    They stole my Silvio

The S40 is a slightly different shape from the Silvio. When I got the S40 I found that the headrest was miles away from my head. Now it seems I do not need a headrest. On the Silvio I had the sensation of being very closely connected to the bike, like the bike is an extension of the body...

T50 on YouTube: Spring Equinox 200K

Nice film. Shame you got stuck in the sand. I bet you wish you had 650b and Gravel King tyres.

    New build: S40 2020

@cpml123 and @chicorider are right. My Silvio was the first Cruzbike to have XX1 but I am not as clever as I think I am.

No, you can't make do with a short chain...

You have issues with your double chainwheels? There is a solution. Cannot remember what it is.
