wanting to mount a light onto the front of Silvio 1.5

^ Nice! Ken, That is a great looking mount. I love the simplicity of just an elastic o-ring to hold it in place. Much better, in my opinion, than a fixed mount.

A Letter From Maria! (A Bump for 3000 Miles to a Cure.)

Nice! It's amazing what effect a simple thank you can have. The fact that Maria Parker has taken time from her very busy life to reach out to her supporters speaks volumes of her and the company itself. Thanks for sharing.

    Quest 2.0 Handlebar locked up

Remove the fork It will not take much to slide the fork out of the headtube. Why not do that and see if you can detect a fault that would cause damage from the inside?

    Quest Touch Up Paint

Not an expert After looking at the Quest paint job, I would assume that the paint is a multi-layer process with a white basecoat and a semi-transparent or candy pearl colour overlay. The orange colour might be best matched using Testor's model enamels. With patience, you should be able to get a...

Phantom metrics showing up in posts

Buy a conversion kit Not a bad idea, Charles. Besides, it would serve well as a back-up bike, bad weather ride, all-weather commuter or one you could loan to a friend who wants to learn to ride a Cruzbike.

    WTB K2 proflex swing arm

Neill, I had searched for one Neill, I had searched for one too a while ago after seeing Doug's creation using the swingarm with the Tiara frame. I gave up, but every now and then they do show up on ebay, but usually with the entire frame.

    Want to buy a Silvio

Buying a Silvio Cruzbike is a relatively small operation and sometimes it takes a while for them to field questions about order and fulfillment times. Basically, they have to hear from the manufacturer/supplier to get an idea when they will ship. Not to mention the transit time across the ocean...

22 or 25mm tires (tubular) for Silvio 2.0?

There are plenty of articles There are plenty of articles stating that wider is faster, but I believe the opinion is based on clinchers. Tubulars have a narurally rounder cross section than comparable clinchers and can feel faster overall. The typically lighter rim is part of the equation, but...

Shimano Ultegra Triple 6703 (10 sp) on Silvio 2.0

Pedal Steer That's true. Even starting on the flats in a gear too high will introduce pedal steer in the direction of the forward-traveling crank (to which the torque is applied). Learning to use the right gear for the situation takes experience and sometimes learning the hard way.

    Using same cassette

I'm not an engineer Hi Charles, I have no concrete evidence why I feel that 700C wheels would be faster other than past experience with bicycles in different configurations. 700C wheels certainly can feel faster, but that's not enough to support the idea that larger wheels are faster. I...

    Using same cassette

Of course, one could use Of course, one could use rubbish 700C wheels, but one need not break the bank buying over-priced wheels. The wheels avalaible from Cruzbike are a bargain for the performance gains offered. I would have a difficult time believing that those rims outfitted with a 25 or 28...

    Wobbly rear end

This reminds me of a female friend I ride with... I was drafting her and when the pace slowed, I pulled up next to her and told her that her rear end tends to shimmy a bit during out-of-saddle efforts. It took her a few moments and my wry smile until she realized what I meant. ;-) Sorry. Go...

700C Sofrider If I recall correctly, Doug Burton once said that 700C wheels can make quite an improvement in speed on the Sofrider. There are several nice examples of this configuration if you search the Web. As an option to the Tektro calipers you are considering, the Paul Moto X brakes would...
