    Enjoying my Green Hornet.

It looks great. For the moment. It won't look like that for very long unless you get mudguards. The Cruzbike I chose is the Silvio. I already own a green insect.

    Squeak

Thanks for all the help, but I found it. I suddenly realised I had forgotten one thing - the pedals. One spins freely and the other does not. Usually when a pedal does that you can feel it when you ride.

The Optimum Hip Angle for Maximum power?

You could fix two short bits of tube at the crossing-point.

    Squeak

Silvio has a new squeak. I cannot locate the source but I am almost sure it is in front. I thought it was the steering, but when I hold the bike and turn the bars it feels fine. I thought it was the BB. When I hold the bike and turn the cranks there is no squeak. I took the chain off, and...

Reverse pedalling - what kind of drivetrain will you use?

    Cruzbike mis-adventures

In some cases, there is no solution and no cure. Is this an excuse? I would get fitter if I went uphill faster on the bike, but my lungs will not let me. Maybe I should do weight-lifting.

    Cruzbike mis-adventures

I would rather be the one having the epiphany than the one delivering it.

    Cruzbike mis-adventures

I cannot decide whether you were unlucky to get hit or lucky it was not worse. Fractured pelvis does not sound very minor to me. I am surprised that you flew in the air. I had the same kind of accident - someone entering a roundabout - and the wheels were bent like fruit bowls. NHS picked...

The Optimum Hip Angle for Maximum power?

A Cruzbike would be useless in microgravity. Too much wheel-spin. But imagine what that bloke who does jumps on a Rinzler could do.

The Optimum Hip Angle for Maximum power?

Balor does not have COPD. My lungs, not my legs, limit my watts. I always wondered why downhill is so much easier than uphill. Now I know. When you are going uphill the BB is raised. Downhill, and the BB is lowered. That explains it.

    The quick and the dead

Generating a puncture sounds like tempting fate. Had I got to the junction a bit earlier I would have been in front of them. If there had been a headwind I would not have been so annoyed.

    The quick and the dead

Maybe the speed forum is the wrong place for this thread. In the Essex countryside, I could see the impending junction from a long way off, and saw the hearse going past, followed by the limousine and the traffic jam. They had just enough time to cut me off. So there I was, behind them. I...

    custom seat build

Yes. Don't nag. Flat pedals? Speedplay? Stirrups? How stable is it? I will rein it in now.

The Optimum Hip Angle for Maximum power?

As an asthmatic child I used to assume that position. I think one reason it is comfortable is because it stops the weight of your head and shoulders pressing down on your lungs. On the Silvio I have tried bar-pulling to lift my back off the seat to recover more quickly from breathlessness...

An S40 in China. Loving the bike :)

So my Silvio came to Essex from Taiwan via Lumberton. I can safely say it did the vast majority of its total mileage before I even saw it. My Grasshopper came from Germany. Pretty local. My vintage Claud Butler came all the way from Tottenham. I can ride there in 30 minutes.

The heavier your bike is, the less noticeable is the extra weight when you carry stuff.

    Road bike vs. recumbent comparison

Your seat is like my mudguards. All these complicated bits like brakes and gears, and the mudguards were the worst. The stays are different on each side, to accommodate the disk brake.

Is your bike not heavy enough already? What is the opposite of a weight-weeny?

An S40 in China. Loving the bike :)

In the UK it is normal for people to cycle in pedestrian places. Nobody complains, not even the police. One-way roads are a different matter. I was going the wrong way, and ahead was a parked police car. The cop pulled out and turned the car sideways to block the road. He even blasted the...

    I know. I tried to reuse a single-use masterlink.
